This is the guy that took down Joe Louis. I watched a 2 hour special on him a little while ago. Pretty cool guy. He kind of represented Germany and the ****'s while Louis was representing the USA. No one said Max could take down Louis and he knocked the **** out of him. He just found a weekness in Louis, he wouldnt raise his right hand back up after he went in for a punch. Max exploited just that one fault and hurt him bad.

I remember watching that sometime ago, it was a good show. They pointed out that fact that Louis left himself open, and Schmelling studied it and took advantage. But if memory serves, that had a rematch some years later and Louis came out on top. Though I think they said Max was quite a bit older at that point.
