Code read for free in New Jersey??

Code read for free in New Jersey?? My parents 96 Blazer is throwing a code. I know in Maryland, Autozone and other similar car part places will often read the code for free. My dad swears there's no place near them that will read the code for free, they all want to charge. Does anyone know of a place in/near Flemington, Neshanic Station, or Somerville that can at least read the code without charging them? (I know my dad plans on fixing whatever it is himself, he just needs to find out what it is first.)

if you have a laptop and live within an hour of Trenton I have a scanner you can use. My laptop is shot, trying to get a new one. Back home in IL autozone scanned my computer for free all the time, I never tried it here though
oh, well if you wanna make the trip it'd be my pleasure, but I have a tight schedule this month, I'll be in hawaii, alaska, korea, michigan, who knows where else :p hopefully head up to TTP to get my car dynoed too
