Anyone from Northern VA or D.C area?
I am being assigned to the Pentagon. I have a wife, a baby on the way, two dogs and of course four cars and a crap load of tools. Need some advice/suggestions/info on renting a house. Two car garage and fenced in backyard is a must. I am wiling to live as far south as stafford and take the metro in to work. Looking at paying around $1500-$1800. I report on 10 FEB 06. I am also looking to get in with a good group of people if you have one. Dragstrip near by? Performance shop? Thanks in advance.
Welcome in advance to the DC area. I can't really help with the house rental in No VA as I live in MD & have been a homeowner for almost 30yrs. Chack out http://www.fbodycentral.com/forum/ for the local scene. Capitol & MIR in MD are 2 decent tracks, maybe I'll run into you next year.
Vinnie, welcome to the area. I myself am assigned to Ft. Belvoir and live in Alexandria. I don't have a family or pets for that matter so I don't have all the good info on houses. But, for what your looking for you will most likely be living down south by Stafford, Dumfries, Woodbridge area. You should be able to find something close to what your looking for with the amount you want to spend. I do know of a couple of realtors if you want me to try and hook it up. As for tracks I know theres one in Manasses, or Man Asses, I haven't been there yet though, I just picked up my Camaro last year and haven't been able to do anything with it yet. As far as performance shops there are a few small ones around but I hear about a couple in Baltimore the most. Hope this helps, take care and maybe we'll see each other on the road. What branch?

. I have pretty much all the tools to do anything from heads and cam swap, all suspension related stuff, tranny removal/installation and service, and install nitrous systems. BUT I need a two car garage. Right now I have my 2002 SS, 1995 LT1 Corvette is my daily driver, and an '88 IROC, I just built a 377 stroker for it just have to put it in. So you can see, I can NOT do a townhouse or apartment which is mostly what I am coming across on line!
I would like to stay in touch with you. I was stationed a Ft belvoir six years ago. As it gets closer I will give you a call, more than likely will I am house hunting I will be staying at Belvoir. Stay in touch. Oh yeah, I don't do 1/8 mile tracks.
Hey Vinnie, nice to hear back from you. My name is Shon, been in for 14 years and fly Blackhawks, hence the name Flieger. I see, you've been here before so you should know the area well. I think the only changes are alot more peeps and cost of living sky rocketing!! I've been in the area for two years, I should be expecting to get out of here within the year. I hear you about the house, man I want a house so bad. To be able to have a garage to store tools, cars, and work in would be a God send. I'll start asking around, many of my friends live down south in the area your talking about and drive up everyday. As a matter of fact, we have one guy, no kidding, who lives down by Dahlgren, he makes that trip everday! Can I get a damn! One guy lives near RaNsom, Upper Marlboro, cost of living is a bit better over there in Maryland. O.k., I'm starting to ramble, do keep in touch and if I come up with anything I'll give a shout your direction, by the way, I plan on using some of your services, so I should get busy. I also have a 88 camaro, it's back at home in Minnesota and an RS though, I was thinking an LSx swap. Of course when I get my garage! Take care and we'll catch up later. I like that stuff about the 1/8 mile track, didn't know.
Shon, what year is your Camaro and is it you only vehicle? What are you looking to do with it. Suspension, engine..etc? Has anything else been done to it that you know of? I am going to PM you my phone number so we can talk.
