John beat me to it.

The magnesium rims are the gold thin 5 spoke rims you never see for many reasons. They were too expensive, they are known to bend/warp from normal daily driving (they cant take much abuse) and they are quite notorious for flaking, like literally flakes of the rim fall off. I know to repair the flaking the average cost is 700.00 and to replace one… take a pain killer and bend over.

I think the Z06 rims are better. They don’t cost as much, they have a better color scheme, rim design and they are really light. No one is going to notice the minor weight difference and it’s not worth it for the cost and hassle. If you can afford GM magnesium rims go with something nice like iForged 3 piece rims or something worth that kind of money.

Sorry Joe. Some good points you have there. The original Mag wheels from the late 90's were UNREAL money. Good for racing but stunk on the street.

Oh cool, cant remember what they look like. All I remember are those gold ones... I dont know for sure but I want to say the magnesium rims were almost a 4,000.00 option with a Corvette.

To buy them now it costs 6458.22 and they are on sale. Crazy or what! That'd be an awesome option to have on a collectors Vette with no miles in 25 years.

6458.22, jeepers friggin creepers.
