344 with an ls6 cam isnt bad at all. But I would be embarressed to let the car go with only a 3 hp gain . There is obviously something else wrong.

all ill say right now is that the cars idle has smoothed out and feels stronger.

i brought it over to a friend whos familiar with cammed cars and says he thinks everything is ok with the car and was impressed with how it runs.

what does that mean? nothing i guess. the car feels like it gained quite a bit power but who knows.

all i can do is run the car and see what happens.

I personally don't know too much about cams , but isn't it about power gain throughout and not just peak hp? I guess wait until you get a chance to run the car and see if there is something not quite right. Unfortunately, with this damn storm, it might be a while before we see 1/4 times........

possibly put both dyno tests (before and after new cam) on top of each other and see if the curves are different.

Anthony has headers... I (unfortunately) have diagnosed numerous lifter problems. Since we use our camshafts all the time, I know the curve that it produces. The problem with diagnosing a lifter problem is that unless it is REALLY extreme, you will only see it when you add more power (Especially thru a cam). Anthony's power for an A4 with a stall is still great, but there is definitely some left on the table.

Our cam's, because of the base circle, usually use a 7.350" pushrod. We always check proper geometry with a dial indicator, but we know our cam + stock heads usually equals 7.350 pushrods. These 7.350's were so loose that you could move the rocker very easily when the valvetrain was properly setup (Stock rockers torque'd to 22 ft lbs). Then after we dyno'd the car with the acceptable length 7.400 pushrods (Which we never use for our smaller base circle cam), I had Jake pull the driver side valvecover and Nick inspected the pushrods again. Once again, I had him put in 7.350 pushrods just to double check since the car sat for a bit that the lifters didn't bleed down (I highly doubted this but I wanted to check every possibility).

This car has mid 40k miles, which is not extreme and is one of the lowest mileage cars that I have seen lifters start collapsing on... Once again, just like DamianLT1, I will wager my labor vs. my diagnosis. If my diagnosis of lifters is incorrect, I will cover the $650 labor charge that it costs to R/R cylinder heads including the gaskets/bolts.

2000ws6: The curves are definitely different. The big problem is our cam starts making outrageuos power around 3500-4000rpm, and that is when you see the lifter problem. So the curve flat-lines and it does not look like a 'regular' equalizer cam.

Just throwing out two examples of my lifter diagnosis.. RaHuL, diagnosed lifters bad went from 356rwhp to around 377rwhp (Cant remember off top of head)... DamianLT1 went from 417rwhp to around 430rwhp (Sorry its my day off and 630am cant remember exact figures)...

The biggest problem with lifters is sometimes you cannot tell if they are 'bad'. Rahul's lifters you could manually push down by hand... But DamianLT1's lifter's seemed perfect to the human eye (We did not test the lifters, we replaced with brand new ones), and Damian's problem was lifters that yieled ~20rwhp.

ULTIMATE: If you have any idle issues just give us a call. This cam is meant to be in a drivable car with full max a/c on. Sometimes it takes a bit more fine tuning, but we did not touch your throttle body hole I did everything thru ls1edit. If you have any issues you let me know asap I'll address them.
