[QUOTE=Violatorno1]The ball clearly DID break the plane.\QUOTE]

anyone who says the ball clearly broke the plane is rooting for the Steelers. The fact that the ref on the goal line did not initially signal TD, but then did signal TD once Ben (while already on the ground) moved the ball forward to break the plane, is a little suspect. There was no way it was going to be overturned on replay because it was very close, but to say it "clearly" broke the plane is just not accurate.

I think Tom Brady did and excellent job of tossing the coin...

The Steelers didn't play their best but they made some good plays in the 2nd half. Parkers 75 yard run and Randle El's td toss. Seattle made mistakes. No matter how you look at it, he did push off in the end zone. Can't cry about that. Pittsburgh has been on the other side when we lost a game because of officiating a few years back and that gave the game to the Patriots. The Seahawks got a away with a couple. I saw a play that should have been pass interference and the one call of an incompletion was clearly a fumble. He caught the ball, tucked it away and clearly tried to run upfield and then was hit and lost the ball. I think there were a lot of mistakes on both sides. It was a big game and all the players were nervous. Ward even stated he dropped a couple passes because of nerves. Ben threw some bas passes because of nerves and I am sure that most of the Seahawks dropped passes were because of nerves. Never the less it was a good game. The only thing that really bothered me was that I never sal Holmgren congradulate Cower. That was wrong.. I read that Hasselbek was the first one into the tunnel and Holmgren was the second.

One question...

How can they be the "World Chaps" when the rest of the world does not play American Football? its the same thing with Baseball, how is it the World Seriese when only the US and Canada have a chance to compete?

The Steelers are the NFL Champs, not world Champs.

BTW I am not a football fan so I can care less who won and this is not the sour grapes of a Seatle fan.

I agree. The half-time entertainment was lousy, also. Give me the Janet Jackson 1/2 time show and the Patriots win last year anyday, as far as a crisply-played, more error-free and less-controversial, exciting game is concerned. As far as the person a couple of posts behind this one saying, "Tom Brady did a good job with the coin toss." I will say this to him with utmost confidence: Tom Brady will be in the Football Hall Of Fame WAY before Mike Rothlisburger, who possibly, will NEVER be inducted. Congrats to the Steelers, although the victory of Superbowl XL will be remembered by all except the Pittsburgh fans, as one filled w/controversy. WJ

just remember one of ur patriots superbowls would have never happen if the refs didnt blow that one call. So far Ben and Tom are heading down the same road to the hall of fame but I dont think Tom will be playin too much longer. I bet in a few years he's doing acting or something.

There was some bad calls on both sides but put all the calls aside and seattle would have still lost , Ive been a steelers fan since 1978 and both teams looked pretty bad , both quaterbacks we not good , but pittsburg made 2 big plays and that was the difference in the game . Anyone can complain but they know that its the truth , If its inconclusive it wont be over turned . I think randel L threw the best pass the whole game (LOL) congrats to pittsburg and there 5th ring , Cant wait till next year and see all the whinning patriots fans complain somemore......

That was one of the uglies superbowls ever. Congrats to Pitt, but it shows how bad the Seahawks played when 2 things happened:

1. The best coach in football (Bill Belichick) even said on ABC before the game "Look out for Pittsburg's gadget plays. If it looks like its a reverse then its probably going to be pass play". He called it before the game!! Predictability. That was bad coaching on seattle's part to not to prepare and recognize this.

2. You know its sad when you win and your QB has the lowest QB rating ever (what did he have, a 22 QB rating right? ).

I give credit where credit is due. The steelers made history. They are one of the few teams to win a superbowl with a **** bumb Quarterback ...Tampa and baltimore were the other teams to do it to FYI. They relied on defense to win.

EITHER WAY AT THE END OF THE DAY THE STEELERS ARE THE CHAMPS...FOR NOW.

i think a lot of the "boring" comments are coming from the fact that both defenses played a great game for the most part.
it makes for a boring game for those that like to see teams put up tons of points, but anyone who likes to watch two of the best defenses in the NFL saw a great game.
the steelers offense managed to get eh seahawks defense jsut enough off balance to grab some points. both offenses managed to shoot themselves in the foot several times in the process.

That being said, you guys must be joking. Do you really think the Steelers deserved that game? Do you really think they out played the Seahawks? What are you all on and where can I get some? Granted the Seahawks had some crucial dropped passes and some poor time management, but who wants to win like that? I have seen better officiated events in professional wrestling. At least call the game both ways.

I am a Seahawk fan. Have been since 1976. I don't mind loosing, I am used to it. But who wants to loose like that? And more importantly, who likes to win like that? All that does is say: "Superbowl XL Champions *" then at the bottom of the page we read: "because of the worst officiated game in NFL history." C'mon, big Ben had any smaller of a QB rating you would need an electron microscope to find it. What was that loud mouth's name? I don't remember because I don't think he made one play in the whole game that ment anything. And where was Palamau (sp?)? Bettes' rushing total for the game seemed to be less than what is needed for a first down.

Yeah, Steelers are the champs, but they did not win.
Yep. Seacawks deserved it more. Hey. Where was the NFL MVP's record setting TD run? Who did Willie do that against? Big Ben didn't need a good rating with El throwing prettier passes than Hasselcrack and Willie getting 75 yd TD run. Cry the blues all you want but I think most all the call were justified. You act like this is the only SB with questionable calls. Must be the only one you watched or payed any attention to. Guess you would since it was your team this year.

granted, it wasn't a pretty win and yes, the seacawks outplayed the Steeler between the 20's all game long but got outplayed in the redzone. That's what wins games. Seacawks scored 10 points, give them 7 more for the push off TD and they got 17. Still not enough to win.

How many ***** did Stevens drop and how many were crucial drops or dislodges? Porter was right, he's soft when it counts. As terrible as the Steelers played why didn't the MVP score enough to win it? There's that redzone thing again.

I'll tell ya what. Watch NFL Total Access the NFL Network on Wednesday night when they go over all the reviews with the head ref. I'd be willing to bet he freezes the film and draws a clear line from the ball to the goaline making it a correct call. Bet he justifies the other calls to.

Don't forget winning 3 on the road and winning the Superbowl from the 6th seed. Giving the Pats credit for making it from the 5th seed in 85 but then even the mighty Pats got sent back in a box when Chicago was finished with them.

Controversy? Can you say tuck rule. Even your mighty superhero Brady knew that was BS.

BTW. WHO DID THE PATS PLAY ON SUNDAY?

is it a new englander thing to think everyone's team but yours doesn't deserve to win?
honestly, teh red sox win a world series and all of a sudden everyone is supposed to think they are teh team of the century. i get to hear stories about how they beat the yankees and the highest payroll in baseball. did everyone forget the red sox had the 2nd highest payroll in the MLB entering the playoffs? not the built on a dime championship that they like to brag about is it?
also, how does it feel to win once every 100 years? i am a yankees fan, always have been(yes, even the 80's when they sucked).
now the patriots win 3 out of 4. very impressive, but it is the past. now they hit all the bad luck/bad calls/bad breaks that they have avoided for the last 4 years and so many of their fans wanna hate on the teams that are winning.

the steelers are not some out of no where fluke. last year they had the top ranked defense in the league and took out the undefeated eagles and undefeated pats in consecutive weeks!!! not bad for a QB that some of you seem to think sucks so bad.
now the steelers come back the following year with that same QB and build an offense that he is suited too. add to that the luck that flows through any championship season with lucky bounces and timely calls and you have a superbowl champion.

stop hating on teams for winning!!! just because it isn't your team doesn't mean they don't deserve it.

Don't try to tell us that Ben is heading down the same road to the hall of frame as Tom Brady...That is absolute bullshit. Ben couldn't carry Brady's gym bag! You're just still delerious from your victory....Why don't you start a independent fan pole on who has the most talent of the 2 QB's?? WJ

He sure had enough talent to precisely pick apart the very same Denver team that made your HOF bound boy look like a Hall of Shame boy.

Oh. Thats right. Denver got lucky to beat the Pats. Pittsburg got lucky to beat Denver. Only Brady wins are actual deserving wins in your eyes.

I honestly believe you are pissed that Ben holds something your superhero Brady will never hold. Youngest QB to ever win a ring when at the same time Ben has many years to get more while Brady slowly fades away.

Or maybe the fact that you have realized that your 2 gods you pray to every football season have benn found to need better support around them in order to get the job done. Face it. the loss of your OC and DC are the beginning of the end for New England. Billy no longer has his 2 gameplanners there to help him look good anymore and neither does Brady.

Get out of your little dress WJ and take your dethroning like a man. The Pats can't be the only team to deserve it. In your own words...."Thats why they play the games."
