grrr
I am just getting frustrated cause I've been to a few interviews, and whenever I've been to an interview in the past that usually meant I had a job. So of course I had high hopes, but I haven't had any offers yet.
Dave- these are paid summer internships and I can't take on a job while during the semester, its too much stress and I am not good at taking a lot of stress. Do you by any chance have the e-mails of these engineers you know? I really don't mind driving however far they are.
Joe- the school did do an internship fair, I heard back from one company there and had an interview, but apparently they were interviewing 20 people for one position. What a waste. Out of the 15 applications I put out to different companies, only 5 were affiliated through that, the rest I did on my own. And I know how frustrating it was for you, it makes me feel a little better.
I actually got an email later today from a really big company around here, and he said he planned to call me. So hopefully I'll hear from this place soon
I'll see if I can find anything a bit less generic within the site I work at where you can send a resume.
The search is a bit confusing since there's about 538042138403 sites in the US.
BTW my g/f graduated college last spring. She went on at least 20 different interviews for 20 different companies before getting her job in the courts. She got frustrated driving all over the north and south shore going to interviews but she landed a good job. It does suck though. The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
You gotta look what the qualifications are for the job & if you feel you meet 60% or so of the qualifications, put in for the job.
Companies know no one has all 100% of the qualifications as postings are usually for the "ideal" candidate.
I got extremely lucky that after the literally hundreds of resumes I sent that the 2nd job I actually interviewed at was the place that hired me.
Last week while at Don's while we were going over the extensive, to me anyway, list of mods & things I want Don to do to my TA he says " I take it the new job is going good since your spending money on the car again".
"Yep, so far so good" I said.
After this mod round a new rear will somewhat complete the major mods list.
Anyway Steph, hang in there, & if you do as I suggested above, while a bit more "work", you'll find you'll get more "bites" for jobs.
BTW, how's your resume look?
I learned how while on unemployment through our local career center (unemployment office) with the help of 2 state qualified resume writers to write & tailor resumes.
I now can write a pretty mean resume, which after learning these skills & rewriting my resume, helped me get the job I’m at now & if you think you need help, LMK & I’ll help you with rewriting yours,
Good luck.
BTW, how's your resume look?
This time around I am looking for a real job per say, a summer internship, something that will look good for my resume when I graduate. I had my resume critiqued 4 times at UConn (they have a career center). I just think it's because I really don't have much substance to the resume, and I competing with other people that have already had internships. I guess I'll just have to keep trying. I never knew it was this frustrating... oh well

hey steph, haha i am in the same exact boat. My daily driver shitbox explorer needs alot of work and i've been unemployed for 5 months, i fixed the rear in the camaro but i can't drive it because i can't afford to put it on insurance. Sucks cause it's been beautiful out the past 2 days and i can't drive it. Good luck finding a job it will all work out don't worry!
