I know... the only reason I'm up here now... is to make enough $$$$ to buy my beach house down south and retire...
! I bought a condo down there and tried the poor beach bum thing... But it wasn't good enough.Where's your parents place?

My parents are planning on buying a place in FL or SC in the next couple years so atleast I'll have their place to use.

he wants to add a c6 to the fam soon also, possably 2 a vert for my mom, and a z for him. hhmmmmm
fla is very nice, but depending where you go.
there place is great, but the issue is, in 1987 when they bought it, it was 150k, they redid alot of it, and fixxed it up, now about 6 months ago, a smaller house with less water front, no pool or boat lift sold for 1.3 mil, and the owner ripped it down and is building a new place
when he bought, he never new the place would do what it did.

It's crazy what ocean frontage is going for right now.... A friend of mine bought one of 25 lots near Charleston, SC that was done as a whole development and he bought one of the first lots.. They were selling for $500k when he bought it a little over 4 years ago... As the lots sold out the price went up. He decided to build a more modest house on the intercoastal but he kept the ocean front lot for the hell of it. 2 years ago the last un-sold lot went for over $5 mil.
When I bought my condo a mile from the beach I got it for $95k... at the time I looked at some houses by the beach but back like 2-3 rows... they were going for $200-$300k and at the time It was way out of my league. I looked 6 months ago at those same houses and they are now going for $700K+... Makes me wish I would have bought one of those with a little help from the parents... it would have made a decent investment...
It just means it will be that much longer before I can get a place of my own down there
.
I had my entire foundation dug up last fall so we could fix the little "water problem" I was having in my basement.... The excavator who did it left my front lawn shaped like a bowl.... now everytime it rains I can go swimming off my front porch, wonder if that counts as "water front"
But atleast my basement is dry now
