Anyone with a hypertech in the abe area?

I'll be installing my 12 bolt this weekend and the speedo will need to be recalibrated. Can this be done with anyones hand held or are they specefic to a specefic car? I'll buy ya a beer and take you out on a whoopin session.

They're specific to a VIN. Only way to unlock it is to remove the hypertech program from the car and return it to stock.

I'd say you'd have better luck asking if someone has HP Tuners or LS1edit, and toss them a couple bucks. I know Rapid is out in Pa, not sure how far from you, but I bet they could recalibrate it real quick and send you on your way.

Is it true that the car will not run correctly without this being done? I can live with the speedo being off but if it effects performance then I have a problem.

Nah the car will run fine, just the speedo will be off and you'll rack up miles on the odometer quicker. I did it for about 2 months after I had the 12 bolt put in.
