75/35 (aka 75/25) is the Optima red top that you want. Do you guys have Costco on the east coast? If so, they're a cheap source for these. Otherwise, try www.remybattery.com

The red tops kinda suck....and recharging them is not good for them.

Get a yellow top.

Shipping is pretty reasonable. IIRC last time I ordered from them it was around $20-25, which isn't bad considering the weight of the battery. They were also nicely packaged to prevent damage.

The red tops are their recommended starter batteries and have higher CCA ratings than yellow tops. Unless you plan on running a big car audio system or other accessory equipment for extended periods without charging the battery, it'll be just fine. I've had a half dozen Optima red tops in cars over the past 10 years and they've seen everything from weeks of sitting with no start, to sub-zero weather, to 100+ heat with nary a problem.

You know, Delco has done away w/the battery problems they had a few years back. I run Delco batteries in my stuff. However, my '02 SS did have a bad battery and GM happily replaced it under warranty. They had a run of bad ones back then. Always been happy w/Delco o.e.m. or HD batteries....Jell batteries have their downsides, as well. Any battery that's in a car that sits alot will go dead if a batt. tender isn't used on it, esp. in cold weather. WJ

Sears has replaced me Red Top, twice in the past two years. (The one in the car is Red Top # 3) They were both returned, as they refused to take the charge. Sears gave me new one's no question asked, but i can only wonder how long it'll take before this one bust. BTW if you track the car, it's very easy to break the plastic lip that secures the battery, as it doesn't fit exactly in there... Snapped the piece clear off after pulling a 1.67 60'. If i had to do it again, i would have thought twice about a Red top...

The yellow tops are good but overkill. I have heard some of the yellow tops have cracking problems too.

Go to Sears and spend $30 for a small battery maintainer....it's a 1 amp charger that shuts off automatically. You can run the small alligator clipped leads from your batt. down underneath and out in front of car and keep your hood closed....I use it for charging everything not used much: GP, Harley, tractor. It keeps the batt. fully charged....a good, cheap tool. WJ

My red top wouldnt hold a charge after repeated discharges from sitting for so long. I got a yellow top instead because its a deep cycle battery. No problems since then.
