When it comes to power modification advice, go with what Slowhawk or the guys at ESP recommend. They've built a ton of cars up and know what results to expect. I'd listen to those guys before asking random people on random message boards who will just recommend what they have because they like it, and have never made many actual comparisons.
Lets put it this way. I have 400 rwhp, manual, with 3.42 gears and I got beaten off the line at seekonk speedway quite a bit by another fbody who was pretty much stock with 3.73 gears, auto, and a stall.
Get the bolt-ons done now. Headers, stall, etc. Get the cam later after your motor can actually breathe

Like you said, its going to be like a month, well the good weather isnt even here yet so it probably wont be driven much. Go for the engine work now work on the stall after, there are some good used units out there.
