Hey Nautilus, How much does it cost to lease the track for a couple quarter passes?

Maybe we can do a couple runs in my stock T/A, just for giggles sake!

You can go to the street nights on Wed or Fri nights for $20, you generally get 2-5 runs depending how busy they are and if you want to stay all night. Or you can go to the Wed track rentals and for $100 you can hot lap your car for 4 hours straight

Northampton, about 20 miles north of Springfield (MA, that is). LVD is a lot closer to me than NED, that's why I thought of it first. I will probably run my pile at least once, just to see what it can do. As long as it's not mid 14's I'll be happy.

I spent lots of time in Northampton as a kid... my Mom and sisters were at every horse show.

I wish I were closer to the track... It's almost exactly 2 hours to either one for me. Longer if I'm towing the trailer.

Ha ha yeah, those back roads across southern NH are not exactly flat, are they? I go up to the Manchester area sometimes to see bands, it's a fun cruise in the Formula, but I wouldn't want to do it towing a trailer.

Going to LVD isn't bad... I take 91 down to the pike and go across that way. But going to NED I take 101 from Keene all the way across. That trip isn't terrible in a car, but it really sucks towing the trailer.

I have one in a box ready to go in. I've never used the Pro 5.0 before but it has to be better then the stock shifter. I looked through a lot of old threads and a lot of people swear by them so I figured I'd try it. I also have a lou's short stick so I'm going to try it both ways... with the std length that comes with it and the short stick to see which I like better.

Another Vermonter here chiming in. I'm way up north in Lyndonville. Haven't been on here much for a very long time though - the wife got pancreatic cancer last year, and after a long, hard-fought battle she lost the fight and passed away a few weeks ago.

Her illness caused a huge amount of financial hardship, which held up the finalization of our car project, and to her despair I couldn't get it done before she died - she loved cars as much as I do., and one of her dreams was seeing the Formula back on the road with both of us in it.

I'm TRYING hard to finish it up now, got some buddies helping me out, but I still owe a ton of $$$ on these medical bills, so spending money on the needed parts is still a pretty low priority, so I don't know when it will be on the road.

Anyway, welcome to the site, and maybe sometime this summer we can get together and go for a cruise. I plan to be back on here fairly often again.

Thanks man. Definitely the worst thing I've ever had to deal with. Been pretty much a nutcase for the last month, but focusing on certain things (such as getting the car done) seems to help keep my distracted, plus it's something that would have made her happy also.

WHat do you have left to get the car done? By the description in your sig it's going to be a badass setup!

Nautilus - that 9.55 run looked BADASS!!

Just bought a used y-pipe and cats, need to put those, O2 sensors, and the cat-back system on.

Needs a wiper motor, hook up a couple coolant lines in the engine bay, and get/finish hooking up a few sensors/emission stuff in the bay. Also need to install a throttle cable - the stock 3rd gen cable is too short, don't know if a 4th gen will reach, or if we'll have to fab something up.

It doesn't have a parking brake right now - we put in a full 4th gen style 9" Moser rear end, so I'm hoping I can just snag some parts from a wrecked 4th gen, and have that taken care of.

Then I think the only BIG thing left will be to get it dyno tuned and on the road!!

Later on there is some more little things....... I'm not happy with how the roll cage was installed, so I'll modify that and actually add to it (only a 4 point setup right now). The back bars are actually preventing the back seat from lifting up and being usable, so I'll move those bars and extend them all the way to the rear - right now they're welded in on the hump right above the gas tank.

Need some new door panels, and a headliner - but I'll get it on the road before I worry about those!

The new suspension is all adjustable, so we'll have to get that all tuned in also, once it's drivable.

She's gonna be a BEAST, that is for sure!! The engine is all custom built, low compression with worked heads - the idea is to play with it for a while NA, then add an STS kit (which is already sitting here waiting) down the road if I want more power. If I decide that she's got enough power for my uses with just the 402 (could always add some nitrous too), then I might throw the turbo on the 91 Camaro RS/LS1 conversion project, instead.

My wife was as into cars as I am - and after busting my *** working two jobs AND my own business for 10 years to support her and raise her son, she fully supported me having a couple of "toys" and having some fun. After she got sick, things got REAL BAD financially, and are still pretty bad right now - that's the biggest thing holding up the car is I haven't been able to buy the parts to finish. BUT - she made me PROMISE that no matter HOW BAD it got, I would NEVER sell or part out the Firebird Formula. I'm very tempted to sell the Camaro (rolling chassis) and the LS1 longblock/A4 trans that is sitting here for it, but she told me to do that as a last resort only...... so we'll see.

She wanted so very badly to ride in the Formula before she died, but she got so bad, so fast, this winter, we just didn't have time to even think about getting it on the road (even if we'd had the necessary parts) before she got too bad to even get out of bed anymore.

I'm dying to get the Formula on the road and see what she's got..... once she's good to go, I'm gonna advertise for a weekend car cruise all the way down Vermont and back, dedicated to her. Probaly make it an annual event, she would've loved that.
