Electric theromstat wont turn off

I have an electric baseboard heater.

I am using a line voltage digital thermostat. I replaced the turn **** one (it was always on 100% or always off).

I can get the thermostat to turn the heat on but I cannot get it to turn off when the room reaches the set temperature. If I turn the electric on to feed the wiring, the heat will come on right away, even if I have the thermostat set to 50 and the room is 70. It wont turn off.

Any ideas?

I just figured out that my baseboard heaters are 120 volts and I have a 220 volt thermostat. It still turns the heat on but not off, is the 120 volt line causing the issue or is that separate from not being able to turn the heat off?

You said you had work so I was waiting to see if you had time to come over. I thought you would call if you could, otherwise you were too busy. mis-communication there on my part, DUH.
