New Era Performance (tuning) I just need to give some well-deserved props to Mike at New Era Performance here in Rochester, NY....
I bought my car a while back that was already "dyno tuned". Wanting to get a baseline before I started doing more internal engine work, I thought I would ask Mike to throw it on the dyno. Mike looked over the tune and found out that the car was tuned in speed density mode....and the car now has a MAF on it
The car never ran *bad* and actually ran well at the track with the original tune. Mike fixed the tune and it ended up gaining ~5 peak rwhp/tq. However, there was ~10rwhp/tq gain around 4700-5200rpms.
However, where the tuning REALLY made a difference was in my drivability!! The car has so much more throttle response, and a noticeable reduction in surge at low rpms. It is a real pleasure to drive now.....and the original tune was not at all bad to drive. I can't believe how smooth it is to drive even with a somewhat "larger" cam (G5X3) for a stock motor.
