Seems to be that time!!!!!
B, get me your motor so i can do the work so we can get that thing in your truck.
i should be able to rip it apart and get most of it rebuilt in a night, then i will finish up the next night and have to all primed and ready, then we can do the swap.
i found the stock ones to be the best, and if you take care of the sled, they last. mine have about 2500 miles on them, no issues but i silicone everything and keep it nice all the time.
but again, with my mods and a couple other sleds we tested, we lost top end with them.
porting works very well, porting is done by cleaning out the air passeges around the cylenders to alow more airflow into and out of the case etc.
if you do a search on google or somthing and see how a 2 stroke works it will make more sence to you.
porting works very well on the old 800's like you have, they really wake up alot. pick up a little on the bottom, but alot on the top. you will need to do a pipe tho in order to get full benifit from porting. the dyno port is the best one, get a ceramic coated one with a stock can, and clutch it. next year that thing will feel like a new machine!!
bill from bickfords can do the porting, he sends them out to crank shop i think and then finish's them with his own touch ups. he does a nice job.
while its apart deffinetly throw new updated rings in it. the 03 had bad flaking issues
