12 bolt rear
Ask Madman, he probably can explain it better. I know my car is set at -2, my fab guy set it for me, and I went home and checked it vs the driveshaft with the frame connectors level and wrote it all down, I know when all the #'s are the same as what I have written down, the angle is -2. I'll be honest I have clunks but that's from rod ended rear control arms and the phb. I didn't see/notice any increase in the clunks when I put this on the car, I had a chassis mounted spohn before and that didn't clunk either. I bet the ang;e beign off has something to do with the whine
As for the whine, live with it is all I can say. You get one that doesn't whine, and I guarintee it's gonna break, that is how it always seems to be.
I'm still babying it for break-in, but you can tell it moves out a bit faster.
My exhaust gets a loud resonating sound around 2400 rpms, these gears pretty much put me there cruising in either 3 or 4, so it's a bit louder. The car is just a weekend crusier and something to play with at the track on occasion so I don't mind going little bigger than what most would tolerate on a daily driver.
JL: Thanks for the info, I'm gonna play with it a bit and see how it works out, Once I get my driveshaft loop back I'll double check all the things talked about. I also got relocation brackets in the mail as we speak. ( my car fund is tapped this year

I vote for a 3rd option. Strange S60. Its a Dana 60 made for F-bodies. Stronger and lighter then 9" only 17lbs heavier then a 12-bolt with the same options. I spent a lot of time on the phone with Strange asking about the S60 after I broke the gears in my 12-bolt for the 5th time in as many years.
If you plan on launching at upwards of 7000rpm with a good clutch, I would go with the S60 from Strange.

Although it has to be more or less for me soon, I need a house.
I know I've easily spent 20K+ into the car not including the cost of buying it, which was even more. I bought the car in late 2001, and I payed it off this past winter, LOL I could have paid it off like 3+ years ago, oh well.
I get a kick outta people when they say they are gonna toss 5-6 grand into their car and it's gonna run 10's.
I got about 3k into a 5k car and am only a 100 shot away from 10s. The question becomes how many times do you want to run those 10s. No question it cost money to do it reliably. FAST , RELIABLE, CHEAP -- PICK 2.
Yeah I mean reliably, not 1 or 2 passes. I guess what I mean is a car that runs em' consistently. It takes a lot more $ than people anticipate, that's for sure.
