Default Does anyone know what is wrong with my car?

My car has a very annoying problem, and I can't figure out what the deal is.

I have an A4 Trans Am. When I try to shift out of park, I cannot press the shifter button. It is stuck. I have to basically use both hands a bit of strength to force it in. Once I have initially forced the button in, I can then depress it at will until the car sits for a while.

My attempts at a solution:
-I have removed the big shifter boot thing, and there didn't seem to be any problems there. It was still nearly impossible to depress the actual shifter.
-I have removed the whole center console to see if anything was in the way to no avail. I didn't see anything that could cause a problem.

This is really getting to be a pain in the ***. What should I do?

try pulling the handle off and see if you can push the button in like that.If not try getting some spray lube in there and see if that helps. If everything on the handle is working fine then I would say your interlock solenoid is possibly going bad and not disengaging all the way.But i would start by lubing all moving mechanisms on the shifter and then go from there

I did remove the handle and was still unable to push in the button. I also lubed the whole mechanism.

To be honest, it doesn't feel like something is sticking/unlubed. It feels like there is a physical barrier that I have to get past. I think you are right about the solenoid. Do you know how to check/replace that?
