my first vehicle 1985 k5 blazer stock lift i through some 33x15.5" swampers on it stock lift and daily drove it before i had my license with no problems. and there are a bunch of dodges around me with 38"s idk how much lift a dodge requires but they never get hassled about it.

 

go to the dmv and they'll tell u the restrictions...no more than 3,000 miles a year. a few other things,not sure. check the new jersey dmv website.

 

dont even bother with collectors. its NOT as easy as it used to be. they made it nearly impossible as of sept. last year to get collectors. if you had it previously, then you can renew no problem. but to apply new, you now need an official letter from the manufacturer or recognized club (NJFBOA im looking at you) to state the car was produced in limited numbers, as a collectors item. ive heard stories of guys calling chevy/GM itself, and after several MONTHS of phone tag, finally got a letter that passed the dumbass dmv regs. to get collectors registration.

 

Well then this just sucks. I guess I'll just keep the Texas tags on it as long as I can and then just try to find a good ol' boy shop to inspect it.

 

Make sure you have a cat and a muffler and you should pass for exhaust. Ive passed with my headers, high flow racing cat and cat back at the randolph station with no problem. When they put in onto the dyno the whole garage was filled with noise and they still passed me. Just make sure you have you car all clean and shined i know that helps its like chrome wheels its like eye candy.you have a dirty car shows that you dont take care of it. One year the guys all came over looking at my car. they just drove the car to the end of the test and passed after they did the emmison test. No lie. no brake test, no horn test, no suspenison test. But that was only one time.

Every motor vehicle having a combustion motor shall at all times be equipped with a [muffler] in good working order and in constant operation to prevent [excessive or unusual noise and] annoying smoke, AND NO PERSON SHALL MODIFY THE EXHAUST SYSTEM OF A MOTOR VEHICLE IN A MANNER SO THAT THE EXHAUST SYSTEM EMITS IN EXCESS OF NINETY-FIVE DECIBELS AS MEASURED BY THE SOCIETY OF AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERS (SAE) STANDARD J1169 ( May 1998 ). IT SHALL NOT BE A VIOLATION OF THIS SUBSECTION UNLESS PROVEN BY PROPER AUTHORITIES THAT THE EXHAUST SYTEM MODIFICATION RESULTS IN NOISE AMPLIFICATION IN EXCESS OF NINETY-FIVE DECIBELS UNDER THE PRESCRIBED SAE TEST STANDARD.

A COURT MAY DISMISS ANY ACTION FOR WHICH A PERSON IS PROSECUTED FOR OPERATING A VEHICLE IN VIOLATION OF THIS SUBSECTION IF IT IS FOUND THAT THE DEFENDANT HAD REASONABLE GROUNDS TO BELIEVE THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT OPERATED IN VIOLATION OF THIS SUBSECTION.

Understatement of the millennium!!!

At the Westfield station (right down the street from Cartek) one year, the brain dead there tried to fail me for not having a driver's side cat on a 100% BONE STOCK to the y pipe exhaust system!!!
EVEN AFTER I POINTED IT OUT TO THEM!!
Finally, I got the manager out of his office and pointed it out to him.
Only then did they scrape the failed sticker off and put the right passed one on.

 

i talked to pontiac, theyre sending me a paper, hopefully itll fullfill the dmvs bullshit requirements.
