any body run a SD tune??
reason why im wanting to do a sd is i dont want to spend alot of money on a bigger maf and it still not work right since im still stock cubes. and it would also save me $180-300 if i didnt buy a maf and just went sd.(and sounds like i will save my tuner a headache to)
just looking for your guys opinion on the sd.
im either thinking efi alchemy or redline prob going o be going to redline since its a bit closer
The pcm is told what the volume of the motor is, size of the injectors and their characteristics, the only variable is airflow.
In the LS1 pcm airflow measurement system, the MAF is very accurate at higher steady state airflow. Down low, not so good due to reversion. This is where an accurately calibrated VE table, Speed Density setup helps out a cam'd/heads car out. The stock LS1 measurement system software has a ceiling of 512g/s.
So, if you put a ten gallon hat sized MAF in your N/A car it's not going to matter unless you start bending the rules.
As a general rule we tune both airflow systems for the same price. Until you start dealing with forced induction on a LS1 system the stock setup works great.
Sometimes we do just SD for N/A applications or upon special request. Some folks due to financial situations (their MAF is bad) and can't afford to replace it go this route and we can accomadate this.
Otherwise, I don't see the need not to tune both systems when practical.
Hope this clears things up a bit.
