Battery Tender for an Optima Batt???
Anyone know a good battery tender that is good for use with an Optima(yellow top) AGM battery?
Most tenders that I find are not reccomended for AGM batts.

I have some new marine grade chargers that do gel,AMG and wet.
2,10,30,80 start NIB for $65
will desulphate too. 5 yr warranty.
I bought 6 of them for an electric car project that died due to lack of funds. only have 3 left.

From what I have seen and read, gel-cell batteries don't like to be on tenders. They last the longest while being used constantly. Friend of mine let it sit and it crapped out. Another one used a tender and it died after a couple weeks. Idk.. I would go with a regular battery if you are going to use a tender. Just from what I have seen, FWIW.

I just looked. My optima in the Z was installed Spet 2006. Battery Tender Junior on it from day 1. Works perfect. The gel batteries do not like to sit. They like to be used constantly because they are charged constantly. Same effect with tender. Buy American. Battery Tender's are made in Deland, FL!

same as Black and Decker which you can buy at Home Depot but not in the marine grade and for alot more.
specs were listed,2 amp mode will keep a float charge.
Charger will also analyze the charge rate and report any problems. Its fully electronic and charges battery about 3 times as fast as a regular charger without damage.
I found one thats the next size down (35amp start) at a boat supply place in Miami
but rules say we cant post link.

I use a Deltran Battery Tender Plus also on my optima red top, used it for a few years now, NO issue unless I don't use it then during the off season I have a dead battery. In fact truth be, I need to go put it on it now...
