Default New part :)

I got my converter the other day, PTC 3600. I can't wait to get this installed next weekend, with the cooler.

In a few weeks, I should be ordering my cam, springs, trunion upgrade, and push rods, then my gears, and hopefully tires.

I hate spending money, but I love going fast.

Nice combo you are going to see a totally different ride!! How many miles as you can do new lifters when you do the cam and new trays also. Get a ported ls6 oil pump and ls2 timing chain.

Thanks.

The car only has 55,600ish miles on it right now.

I can't afford to do lifters right now, but I will change them when I do the heads at the end of the year, or next year.

If I have enough left, I'll do the oil pump and chain, but I'll have to see if it'll fit into my budget, when I do the cam, in the next few weeks.

My oil pump died on me a couple months ago literally overnight and my car had almost exactly the same miles yours does (55200). I would HIGHLY recommend the oil pump while you're in there doing the cam swap, if it doesn't fit in the budget right now, then wait until it does. If you have to go back in to do a pump later, you'll end up rebuying all the gaskets and fluids. I ended up with a Melling high pressure pump and am very happy with the results. Plus an ls2 timing chain is only $42, cheap insurance as well.

Thanks.

I'll definitely look into it.

And where did you find an LS2 timing chain set for $42??

Despite that super helpful comment... I just ordered the timing chain, not the whole sprocket set too. For our miles I was told to not worry about it. Bought a lot of my gaskets and parts from ws6store. I think once your order gets above $100 they give you free shipping. I would also recommend the arp balancer bolt since it's reusable. Hit me up if you have more questions man. Can also recommend Brian Tooley for your valve springs and pushrods. Great stuff at a great price.

i was on my phone, just got to a computer to further comment, haha sorry.

i dont want to name names because of sponsor issues, but a lot of places sell the oem chain for $40-$50 and a good dealer will too. some of them mark everything up crazy amounts.

I bought my pump and chain at the dealer and it was around $150 total. But Ill be honest, my car had 130k miles on the orginal 99' pump and chain. I wouldnt be to worried about it but if you have the cash then get them.

Mine had 55000 on it when it went... Read the hundreds of threads on here about an oil pump failing overnight for no reason. It's almost as infamous as the bubbling sail panel! Let me ask you this; is $120 for insurance against a KNOWN faulty part too expensive when you compare that to the price of replacing a trashed motor if it goes out while you're doing 80 on the highway? If the post by 99wssixm6 does anything, it should convince you that you don't know when it might go out. The choice is ultimately yours man, but it's absolutely worth the $120 for peace of mind and a little extra oil pressure in my opinion haha.

Yea, I'm getting my cam, springs, and pushrods from Martin at Tick. I'm gonna get the BTR Platinum springs with Ti retainers.

Martin is who I went with for my cam too. Everything I was hoping for. Going on the dyno for a tune in a week.

I totally agree...

I was just giving my experience as feedback of mine lasting alot longer then the normal one. When the cam was put in I was very adamant that no way the engine was going to run again until a new oil pump was installed. And I just bought the normal one....not the ported unit.

I also ran stock rocker trunions......That should stir something up lol
