Default Tach and Speedo not reading correct

I picked up a 98 Z28 about 2 weeks ago and finally registered it today(been busy) Car seems to ran fairly well but the Speedo and Tach are not reading correctly. The car does still have the stock 2.73 gears in it.

When I am doing about 40-45 mph the car says I am going 80-85 mph and the tach is around 3k Rpms but you can tell the car is only running around 1500 rpms

Any ideas?

Matt

Sounds like the ecu is programmed for a different gear ratio. May have been tuned for a rear that was pulled out before the car was sold.

My brother had a similar problem in his SS. His was loose battery connections at the terminals. Hope this helps.
