Lightbulb Gainesville/Ocala meet???

Okay, I'm asking this again.

In the past I used to attend and help out with a cruise-in/club here in Gainesville (GMCA-Gainesville Muscle Car Association). We had about 20-40 cars each Thursday night, and usually cruised around Gainesville for a short time afterwards. It was a mix of new and old cars (trucks were welcome provided they weren't jacked up or low-riders), and we did activities and race dates, even a cruise to Garlits museum!

The problems we experienced:

1-people leave and with my having a reg job and not much time to promote it around campus, new blood was hard to come by.

2-too many damn ricers caused headaches at our old meeting spot with cops (Best Buy)

3-No one to help promote it to get new people to come out (see #1)

I'd like to get it going again in the next month or so, especially with the new crop of students at UF. I'd need some help on it, and am hoping a few people from here would be interested in helping out or coming to the cause.

Ideas on date, time, location??

I'm kinda stuck on Thursday, as that's the day the ricers always meet, and I figure it doesn't get the in the way of people's plans for the weekend, or racing at the track (Wednesday, Friday and Saturday are race dates).

Post up or PM me!

Derek

Derek, what are some ideas for promoting on campus? I would be happy to help get GMCA going again.

great guys! Flyers and spreading the word on campus would be a big help! I'll start looking into potential meeting spots this week, keep comments coming!

J, you might want to check out Gator's Dockside on Wednesday nights. A buddy has a 750 Katana and says they see 30-60 bikes depending on the weather.

We may add bikes in, just have to see what the opinion is.

I think most of the ricers have been scared away from the Best Buy parking lot, so that still might be an option. We have pleanty of parking lots in this city, I don't think we'll have too much trouble finding one. Now we just need to find some people to populate the meet.

Kevin,

I was thinking Steak N Shake on 13th and 16th. Close to Campus, we used to meet there, good amount of parking, and last time we were there the manager was cool with us hanging out.

Give me a buzz tomorrow night as if the weather looks good I'll be out looking for possible spots.

Are you kidding me. They need to change Florida to wet land or some crap. This rain is ridiculous! It pours everyday.

Hey Derek, I'm up for it. Picked up an 04 GTO couple weeks ago. SLOOOOOW. 13.93 best. Torque management was kicking my ***.

Found this site hunting a tuner. Hit me up.

Well the tuner is Jeremy Formato. IMO (and a lot of others) he is THE best here in Florida. Not to mention he is a great guy.

Gainesville and Moroso both got TNT's in this past Saturday. Amazing considering all the rain I drove in down to South FL on Friday, and back north today

Sparky,

You've got another car?? Geez, can you pick one and focus on it only?!? I'd look up George Coffey next time he's at the track and he might have a few tips for you.

hehe, well, ya' know......

Talked to George, he got rid of all his stuff now that he's a 2 wheel junkie. But he said LS1edit was the way to go. I'm just thinking the learning curve vs. having a good tuner deal. Undecided right now. I just know torque management has to go. I'll holla' atcha' at work tomm.
