going to ground zero Well, my company is sending me to work claims at gound zero. Looks like I will be there 3-4 weeks working. I guess I am about to see what a war zone looks like up close. Anyone else ever have to work an area after a hurricane for an insurance company?

Not in insurance, but as releif. Take plenty of dry socks, asperin and patience. You are not going to beleive what you see. Corp of Engineers stated today that WHEN the levy is fixed and the pumps are running, it could be up to 80 days before the water is pumped out of New Orleans. Bad water can cause typhious, colhera and wound dieases. I would suggest antiseptic wipes and a visit to the Doctor for antibiotics before departing. A face mask might be advisible if you go into some of the outer lying areas. Drops of menthol alleviate some of the smell.
These people are pissed at everyone right now and they are also homeless. A lot have lost entire families, the death count is going to be astronomical. At this point the Coasties are taking around 6000 people a day off roofs, more people are trying to make it to a point where they can get help. N. O. has a huge population of poverty level families that didn't have much before and now they have nothing.
Mississippi didn't fair very well either, there are reports of bodies floating in the bayous. Entire towns are gone with nothing left standing.
