My radiator also had like feathers and leaves and gunk on the outside of it. Like the side that faces the intercooler.

Some music for today

You will really need to keep up with the intercooler and radiator keeping them free from debris. Heat will kill your motor. If you have blown a head gasket make sure to check all your pistons while they are exposed. You may find additional damage from lifting the heads.

I dont believe i have blown anything to the best of my knowledge. I keep a good eyes on all my gauges. I clean off the radiator and stuff every time i change fans which has been every three months.

a blown headgasket can be an extremely small leak b/w the head and the block.

som - what you want to do is check these two easy issues.

1) get your oil changed and check if the oil has any "milky" substance in it.

2) check to see if you are low at all on coolant. this helps if you drive the car everyday or drive it often. if it is sitting a bunch it wont help to check this much.

Go to your local auto part store and ask for a coolant tester that picks up carbon in your radiator fluid. you run your motor and put the tester were your radiator cap is. once the thermostat opens and the coolant moves through the motor the fuild in the tester will change color. If it changes color then you have a blown head gasket. This will rob you of alot of power especially if you are FI.

if you have a single set of push pull fans or two pull fans, you have enough cfm to cool that motor. i promiss. on my pops car, we run one push and one pull fan 16" each and it keeps a 900 hp blower motor lt1 cool in teh summer at idle.

fans should help it at idle where the car is not moving. if it is running hot driving around then its signs of a bad deal

I have one 16 inch fan now. Thats how i got it. And it runs at about 210 on the gauge the whole time. With fan on (i have a little toggle switch under the steering wheel my friend put in) and no ac on with moving traffic.

Its been like that since i got it. Lord I swear i begin to feel faint driving my car in the summer from the heat. And when it gets too hot, i put the fan to blow the hot air into the car and it lowers the temp back to 210.

So i think 2 fans would be cool. but nothing bigger than a 9 will fit cause of the supercharger.

getting over 220 degrees for long in this heat of FL and in traffic could lead to lifting the heads.
