Default Auto Trader Lemon Warning!!!!

in the november 24th issue of auto trader there is a white 2001 z28 w/ 69k miles for 6500 firm....

the car is garbage...

in the add the guy says slight front end damage, so i call and he says his wife was backing out of a parking space and while looking back she cut the wheel to soon and hit the truck parked next to her... he said he brought it to a body shop and they estimated 700 in damages...

so i wanna go drive the car and look at it (under the hood, interior ect..) but the guy says he can only do it after 8pm (when its dark out) so he tells me where it is located (dont know the exit number but it is off of I-75 at the cracker barrel in pt charlotte...

i look and observe the damage to the front and it seems it only needs a new ps fender, bumper cover... then i look closer, the door looks like it fits a little funny and the weather stripping onthe door is slighty off.... the mirrors were also black instead of white the rear hatch also didnt seem like it was aliged correctly either..

so about a week later i finally arrange a partial daylight test drive..i asked him about how the damage happened again and this time it was from his sister.. ... the guy took off the sunshade and kinda spread it across the back seat (will explain why later) so he starts it up and i hear a major sucking noise so i pop the hood....

OMG, this thing looked like it was ralley driven with no hood behind a dump truck... dirt everywhere... i located the sucking noise and it was coming from a vaccum line... but thats nothing

the thing was smashed so hard it literally split the fenderwell in two and u can see where they beat it back and taped over the split and painted it so it was harder to notice...

there were also stress cracks on the DS... so i know right off the bat this is a no go deal.. but i still decide to test drive it to see how it drives...

i get in and notice the steering wheel is a little funny and that it was the foam steering wheel (pretty sure all 01 z28's had the leather wrapped steering wheel)...

the thing barley idels from the horrible vaccum leak and is a total dog... the carpet was all stained, the interior stunk and was just gross..then i look under the sun shade in the back seat and there were black nasty stains and filth from soda and coffee and just ehhh... then i look behind the drivers seat and there is a damn rats nest WTF.... i cant wait to bring the car back to the guy who was waiting in the parking lot...

i strait up tell him how much of a rip it is and that he is never going to sell it esp. being so nasty and dirty.. i also tell him about the rats nest....

so BEWARE...

im sure somebody is going to get conned into buying it...

i just feel bad because it will prolly be a little old lady who is barley making ends meet w/ her social security check... i just hate to see people get screwed

Damn... what was the asking price by the way? Should have told the guy to part out what he could and set the rest on fire and roll it off a cliff !

Call him up and tell him in a -serious as a heart attack- voice "How's about $1250 CASH "

Ask him a bunch of questions that will have long answers just to waste a little of his time and aggrivate him first, then hit him with that

I knocked $10,000 off the price of my car. Dealer wanted $25K for a 1999 SS with 55K miles on it. I said "No way, it blue books for $14,100". They also had no idea about any of the other mods on the car that I noticed, so I said "OK, 15K out the door". He said OK, so I walked out of there saving $10,000. That felt REALLY good.
