Trans: turbo 350 or 400 with all goodies (reverse manual valve body, trans brake)

Interior stripped and 12 pt cage
2 racing seats
Sheet metal dash and door panels
Full auto meter gauges
Custom paint

Phase 2- ***** to the wall

Switch to fiberglass doors and rear deck
Full tubbed rear with narrowed 9-inch
Adjustable 4 link
Big block engine with Blower and multiple stages of nitrous 800-1100 HP range
full race TH400
X the Chasis
switch to chrome moly suspension pieces

This will be a well thought out and executed build that will take time. Phase one will hopefully be completed in 1.5 -2 years. Phase 2 proably 2 years after that.

I am very excited about the build and i look forward to taking a poor forgotten 3rd gen to the glory and speeds its never seen.

one major quesion and one not so important question.

Important question- Do you have any idea of the cost involved into what you are planning?

Not so important question- how old are you?

Hey Jack! I see you sold the Lightning and got a t/a. Btw, its Jason(bought your formula). Good luck with the build. If you ever need some help working on it let me know. I will be glad to help.

One last thing, this coming friday I'm going out to the track and will hopefully get a bunch of others to go as well. Afterwards we will cruise to SnS. Let me know if you want to go.

30thanniv, i have evaluated the funds this project will take. I had to sit down and evaulate wether it was worth fixing this body or buying a good rolling shell. I got this car for practically free. So after the costs of fixing it, i will be at almost the same price it would cost me for a good shell car, but this one will have basically a fiberglass front clip. I am planning on around 12-16k for phase one, that much over a couple years wont be bad. I am 22 years old also. I appreciate the concern but i have defiantely evaluted how much it will cost. I am one semester away from getting my bachelors degree in both accounting and finance, so budgeting and cost evaluation are always on my mind.

Jason, whats up? How is the car running? thanks i definately keep in you mind when i need some extra hands. I would love to go but i gotta take the lady out. I would love to see how the formula is running!

The car is running good. I got it to a best of 12.71 on street tires. I sold it to Jerry(one of the guys that rode in the car when we test drove it) this past July and bought a 72 Chevelle. Jerry just had the tranny built over @ Kenny Wells and ran the car this past friday but couldnt get out of the low 13's. Hopefully he will this coming friday.

Now that i look at your sig i can see that you sold it. 12.71!!! Nice, that is awesome times for the car. Yea i remember jerry, when you came and looked at the car.
I just watched the video of the chevelle! Pretty nice car. What does the drivetrain consist of? I def want to come out to the track soon. I just hate going out there with no car to run. I sold my 00 trans am and just bought a 98 honda civic so i can get good gas mielage while i finish school. Im going CRAZY!! that why i am taking on this porject on. It will give me somehting to do on my down time and also when im done ill have a track beater.

So jerry cant get the car out of the 13's? What size stall did he go with? stock or higher stall speed? Did he get it beefed up, with additional clutches and such? Im sure he'll get it back into the 12's soon.

It has a Kenny Wells built th400. Right now I have the stock 10bolt w/2.73's. Here shortly a 12bolt w/3.73's will go in until I go n2o, then I'll switch over to 3.42's.
That stinks that you sold your 00 t/a. I would go crazy if I didnt have something fast to drive. Since my car isi n the shop, I ran my beater escort last fri to a 18.99 @ 68 haha.
Jerry went with a slightly higher stall like 2200 or 2400. I know it started to slip bad, so I guess when they fixed it they beefed it up some, but I dont know how much. Practice makes perfect at the track, and I think he needs the shift points fine tuned.

Hello all. Jerry here. The car was on street tires and I am spinning a little when second gear hits. I went 13.16 at 107mph. at best last Friday and the other runs were similar (13.17 @ 106mph, and 13.2 @ 106mph). I am going to the track to anybody that cares to know but will not be running this Friday. It would be awesome to help you out with your 3rd gen Project considering I used to own an 85 Camaro. Maybe we can all hang out or meet at the track in the near future. Just shows you how well LS1s can be. Jack is the original modder of the car (the only thing I have been able to do is rebuild the tranny) and so far it is still a consistant high 12 second car, and I just hit 105,000 miles. I shall start modding more when I pay it off but for now it shall stay pretty much the same way it is today. Oh yeah, I went with a little 2200 stall when I had the tranny rebuilt. They made it a lot stronger but nothing special, just one less thing to worry about.
