Default Salt water pools???

Have any of you guys converted your pool to salt water? I have had enough of the traditional chemicals. I see that I can buy the units online, I just wanted to hear some DIY stories....thanks

I have one and it is easier to maintain than the usual pools. it's easy on the clothes too.doesn't smell like the average pool either.make the switch.

I work at a company here in the midwest called Poll Tech Midwest Inc. I work on the construction side, building the pools, so I dont know all the technical stuff about the salt water pools. I do know that they are starting to catch on here, and the benefits people are talking about are softer water, easier to maintain, dont have to add all the other chemicals once the water is at its correct levels. They also say that the smell is gone, no chlorine or other hazerdous gasses to have to worry about. And alot safer. If any of you guys use acid, and know what happens when you spill it, you know what im talking about. They seem to be the way to go from what I can see, just havnt quite caught on here yet in Iowa and the surounding areas.

If I wanted salt water, I would go 3 miles east and go to the beach.
