Default biggest load of BS and some MORE

ok so i was driving home from the mall and i noticed there were alot of cops out tonight so i made sure i didnt speed or drive like a jackass ect. so i come up to a redlight and stop next to a porche ohh so tempting but i restrain since its just wet and there are a butt load of cops out and quite a few cars on the road

well my radar detector starts going off the second before it turns green so i make sure i don't take off fast or exceed the speed limit.. i notice 2 cop cars sitting about 1/4 mile from the light i just left and as i pass them one turns out (im not worried at this point since i didnt do anything wrong) well anyways he gets right on my *** and follows me for about a quarter mile then throws on the "oh ****" lights, so i pull over off of the busy wet highway onto the access road..

he ends up telling me that i wasnt speeding or doing anything wrong, but that i had a tag light out (im thinkin to my self there is no way i have a blown taglight since i just checked all my bulbs last week) so he asks for my lisence registration and proof of insurance so i give him all of the papers and my license .. he sits in the car for about 10 mins (im kinda startin to worry, i knew that i had insurance but thought maybe my lisence got suspended or something and i never knew but anyways)

a second cop ends up showing up with a K9 unit and they ask if they can search my car and if i have any drugs or weapons or go by any aliases so having nothing to hide i agree to the search and step out of my car and i get patted down and empty my pockets.. well 30 mins later they find nothing but they empty out my center console, my glove box.. all the **** from my hatch including all my brand new microfiber towels and lay them on the grass which intern get covered in dead pieces of grass completely ruining them.. so they let the dog sniff a bit, putting his claws on my seats and my new leather console lid cover (now i think ohh **** they better not try and put something in there and say its mine.. thank god they didn't)...so i end up leaving with a written warning, a messy *** hairy car and some ruined microfiber towels...

here comes the kicker.. so after i leave i pull into a parking lot and check my tag bulb and its bright as day (to make sure it wasn't loose or anything i wiggle stuff around any nothing flickers or goes out..... **** cops who harass people because they are young and have a nice car.. just because i have a nice car doesn't mean im a drug dealer or crook, i work hard for my **** and this kind of stuff pisses me off.. **** THAT

i wish i could report those asses, but then i know next time they see me they would give me all sorts of tickets and who knows... ugh

im done.. i just needed to vent

They do have name tags. If everything went down exactly as you said it did then why not go after them? Venting on the internet is for pussies. We are talking about government employees that have bosses. Last time I checked, they work for us, the tax payers. There are plenty of execellent law enforcement folks that don't want their good deeds/names/reputations sullied by stupid bs described in this thread. Put up or STFU, the majority of law enforcement are really good folks who protect us all. I hope you get my drift.

Honestly man, you let them into your car. When they ask if they can search your car you should have told them no, if they keep asking you questions answer them politely and then ask if your are being held for anything or can you go. I have told cops they cant search my car, and that I wanna go if hes not holding me for anything, they will let you go. Thank God too, I had like an ounce in the trunk.

Summary: know your rights

You don't have to let them search the vehicle. I would have went back and checked the light once he said it was out.

So he's a ***** for sharing this with us? That's harsh...

The majority of law enforcement folks are excellent people? Wow, what a news flash.

That's kinda the SAME for folks of any profession.

He's not venting about the great officers that protect us to whom we owe our lives. He's venting about a pair of *********, which, unfortunately resulting from his own naivete, were given permission and license to mess with him more than they should have...

Your kind of being a dick to this guy just for coming on here to share a bad experience to which MANY of us can relate, quite interestingly.

Here in Florida knowing the laws can really help.
I am lucky and have a best friend who was a local officer for years. I have learned from him what you can and cant get away with.
I also now carry a digital voice recorder with me at all times in the glove box. Every time I get pulled over ( only once in the past 2 years) I grab it and put it in my pocket.
It won't hold up in the court of law as I don't inform them I have it but their bosses I am sure would take it into consideration if I play it for them.
Knowing the law is half the battle.
I have been in a similar situation and pulled over for no reason. When i realized they had nothing I simply asked are you going to arrest me? The reply was no.
Are you going to ticket me? The reply again was no.
I started my car rolled up my window and drove off.
Had he off followed I would have called 911 and said he was following and harassing me. Their supervisors don't like 911 calls too much.
It sucks that they did what they did with your car. Hopefully you will know if it happens again. Just make sure you don't have a suspended license. That gives them automatic permission to search your car without even asking.
I don't know if I would follow a complaint. Thats up to you.
Good luck on whichever direction you decide to go.

well i decided not to file a complaint since i didnt get a ticket, and i stupidly agreed to the search

i know most cops are good people but a few ******** ruin thier rep..

i talked to a cop i know and he said that you can be pulled over and ticketed even if the tag light is good, you have to be able to see it from 50ft away (which you could) he also said nothing would happen to the cops that pulled me over since they didnt do anything against the rules, they just pushed the lines..

if you are out of your vehicle cops can ask you to empty your pockets and pat you down, the dogs are allowed in the car since you can hide drugs anywhere and cops only need probably cause to search your car, and i guess it is some how in someway possible my taglight was loose and it just happened to be out at the time he saw it, and when i pulled away it must have lit back up somehow

i vacuumed my car out and luckily there were no puncture marks or scratches in/on anything and as for the microfiber towels they were in a brand new roll so only one was messed up (ill use that detailing my engine or something)

So even if I say no I dont want you to search my car they still can if they have probable cause? Now is speeding or something like that considered probable cause? Or a broken tail light?

No...Too make it more simple...If you can be arrested for it, they can search it...If they smell marijuana from the vehicle but do not see it, they can search you and the vehicle...If they ask you to search the vehicle, you can say no. They can bring a dog to your vehicle during any stop for any reason to walk it around. If the dog its, they can search the vehicle but not you. If the dog hits on you, they can search you. There is alot of gray area in police work but here are a few simple notes.

A guy here from lethally injection (or something) should know about this because I had him sitting in his vehicle, in an alleyway, in a high drug area. I smelt drugs and searched his vehicle. Lucky for him I did not find anything and I let him go but his buddy had to drive (he was drunk)

There are always bad apples in every tree....Police, Fire Department, Legal, Disney, The gas station you attend, Teachers, Etcc.....It's just life....The story is true that one bad apple will spoil the whole tree because we do get that image...

Im glad everything worked out, and yes we do make mistakes...were human

Hey Steve, I told my uncle about this who is a Local Sheriff and he said next time get their names, ask to check the tag light and dont let them search the car if you dont want them to. You hold all rights to this and further harrasment could lead to a settlement in court.
