Default TRIUMPH... and then... DISASTER!!!

Finally got the chance to head down and replace my old school craptacular A&A bracket with the ECS ProCharger Bracket/tensioner setup. Car made a little more boost with the same 4.10 pulley, tune needed only slight tweaking with HP Tuners. Also removed insulation under hood for a little more of that blower sound. Test runs during tuning where exhilerating of course.

While the car was on the rack, noticed a little oil on the rear crossmember. A little more on the rear bumper bottom. A closer examination revealed the source was the driver side of the differential. Funny I was just talking about getting a new one. OK, no problemo, now I even have a nifty excuse to appease the wife.

Ah, but that's not the end of this story. Heading home, came to a stoplight. Left the light casually at green, and the car revved to 3000rpm before shifting at 25mph or so. Hmmm. Car ran fine on the 2.5 hour freeway trip home, at speeds of 90mph when possible. Tranny temps steady at 194 degrees, car shifted into 3rd and 4th gear fine after slow-downs and re-acceleration. Even at city speeds, no problem. But anytime I go under 15mph or so and the re-accelerate, the motor revs all the way to 3000rpm, which makes me look like quite the jack-***.

Not sure whether it's the converter or transmission, but needless to say no point in replacing one and not the other. Car is safe and sound in the garage, but on injured reserve for now. Daily beater only for the next few weeks.

Unfortunately I'm eventually going to have to shell out for this bad boy:

The s/o ain't to happy about it. She better just learn to live with it.

At least now I'm forced to upgrade and I can stomp on it without worrying about blowing the transmission. I had been babying it for the most part. I think our test & tune runs beat the **** out of it.

I see you're barely into the tens, and that is exactly where I want to be. I don't want to ruin all streetability by building a 9 sec. car over time, I just want a car that is awesome on the street and can sneak into the tens at the track.

What is your power level, what gear are you running, what torque converter do you have, and what kind of tires was that on?

Thanks.
