Aside from the RPM tranny and rear and the Vigilante Torque converter, putting in a much larger cooler, an elite engineering tunnel plate (keeps out heat, stiffens chassy, improves stability/handling) and swapping the bullets for some z06 Titanium Mufflers with bypass pipes welded in. (Should still sound pretty good at WOT, but much calmer at cruise)
Also going to change shiftpoints/redline with the re-tune. Had them set conservatively to help keep the stock transmission alive. So much for that.

Feels very smooth/authoritative with the 3.42 and the built tranny. Cruising at 80mph I can just flick my ankle to 1/4 throttle or less and bam, 100mph+ instantly.
The Vigilante Torque converter is a little loose, but I am already used to it. Ordered small (2800rpm) so I would end up with a 3200 or so and it wouldn't be too sloppy. I was afraid if I ordered a 3200 it would end up being a 3600.
Definitely causes more heat. Larger transmission cooler installed with its own fan now, tranny temps on the 2hr drive home got up to 215. No more 180s for me I guess.
Now I have to find time to wash it before next Sunday so a certain someone who drives a Barney-purple camaro doesn't make any smart @$$ comments.
on a side note, your trans shouldn't get that hot with the cooling setup you mentioned. is the converter going into lockup in 4th?
Also, I don't know where the stock sensor is on the corvette. I know a lot of f-bodys have them installed in a location that actually gives lower readings. I would think a 15-20* rise in temperature isn't too bad going from a stock transmission and converter to a built one and 3000stall. I'll see what kind of temps I get today on the way to Church. After 500mile break-in I need to take the car back for another re-tune anyway, since we can't go WOT yet. I could always have another cooler installed if need be.
At any rate, from what I've read 215* isn't going to kill it. Prolonged temps above 230* are what will supposedly destroy the seals and other parts over time. If these temps continue, I will get another cooler when we retune after the break-in. They're not that expensive anyway.
Came back around to the highway again at 189*
4-5 spirited 60mph-100mph runs, but still no WOT, heated it up to 198*
Cruised the rest of the way down the highway and got to 201*
Back to city driving, steady at 198* all the way home.
Total of about 40min driving.
I guess the humidity yersterday combined with the 2 hour + trip just got everything heated up. My engine oil temps were also a little high yesterday, back to normal today.
See you guys Sunday. Have we decided on the official start time yet?
