truck problems
I have a 2001 4.3 automatic with about 75000 miles on it. We replaced
the intake manifold gasket about a month ago and it ran great
afterwards. These are possibly the stock wires and plugs, if not stock they have
atleast 35000 miles on them. The problem started when I ran completely
out of gas about week ago.
The engine idles and starts fine. Under throttle it will start to
misfire and has no power but it will accelerate just fine if you let off a
tiny bit.
This varies from time to time, sometimes its normal at full throttle,
sometimes it will die about 3/4 throttle or as little 1/3 throttle. It
seems to get worse as the engine heats up. I'm an auto, If I shift
manually into first gear I can rev it upto redline without any misfire or
hesitation(at low throttle position), so its related to throttle
position more than rev.
I haven't had a chance to get my codes read to see if anything new came
up, but I'm doing that tomorrow.
Any ideas?
thanx guys
End of story.... XXX amount of bucks at a shop, and they changed his fuel filter, and cleaned the injectors.... I guess running it out of gas sucked up some trash and clogged the filter... and what got through clogged the injectors?
If you were easy on the throttle, it would be 95% fine... If you went to increase the gas, it would begin to missfire and run like trash. I guess as the more air flowed through the TB (more throttle) the computer tried to send more fuel, but it couldn't get through the injectors....
Thats the best that I can help... I am not too familiar with fuel injection (My only experience is with carbs) and this is 3rd hand information from my Grandpa who knows nothing about cars...
