Default 4l60e problems

I have a 98 SS with 123,000 on the drivetrain and only bolt on mods. The past week i noticed a flutter while driving on the h-way around 70mph, the rpm's would flutter up about 100-200 rpm. It would do this a few times then go away, then last night the fluttering became more frequent and the rpm's went to jumping about 500 rpm. Babying it down argyle road the fluttering starting to happen at 40-65mph where as b4 it was only h-way; at a stop light it was sluggish out of first and continued the fluttering here and there back to my house.
I researched the probelem and some say the tranny is going out and others say its the shift sensor. If its the sensor or a sensor great, if the tranny well a dent in the pocket but a new 4l60e and bigger stall is exciting to think about.
Anyone have anything similar, or when your a4 went out did it have any of these signs.
Also, anyone know of a good place for a new 4l60e in the jacksonville area.
Thanks
