Default Vigilante really does underrate their converters.

I was originally going to get a yank ss3200 (wanted a tight but well performing converter), went with a vig instead. Everyone said they underrate by ~400rpm, which turned out to be spot on.

Ordered a Vig 2800.

Got a 3200

Recently concluded testing, on a closed course controlled environment , has shown to stall to exactly 3200 rpm.

Still very tight though, probably due to the 2.5 str as opposed to 2.1 on the yank.

I can definitely see why so many suggest a 3600, but I do like the close to stock tightness of this converter and will stay put.

you could have went with a 3600 and still have had a tight converter and it would have got you better shift extensions especially good for the blower.

I'm picky though. Like it nice and tight.

This one is very tolerable, but I wouldn't mind steeper gears in the future to tighten it up.

3600 would be overkill for Goodyear GS-D3 tires anyway.

gears wont do much for you IMO. its not really so much a vig under rating their converters as much as you are making much more tq than a stock ls1 motor. remember that converter flash is Dependant on the input torque.

They actually called me and asked exactly what was done to the car, power level, etc.

Doesn't matter anyway, that's why I ordered smaller than what I wanted.

This is true , however I just installed an Edge converter that was built for me and was told it would stall around 3300 and its pretty close!

how are you guys measuring your flash stall? i assume its through a very good data logger and you are hooking 100% right?

Who knows. STILL waiting to find out if my wife got into med school for January. She got a letter this week confirming she had completed all necessary paperwork and her candidacy is now being considered by the board of admissions. Hopefully we'll know next week, getting sick of not knowing what's going on.

If she gets in, it will be years before I get to the track. We'd be living in St. Martin (Island country in the Caribbean) for the next 2.5 years, then move back to the states in Miami for the remainder of her schooling.

If not, I'm sure I'll be able to at buy a rear pair of BFG DRs in time for the Feb. track day, if not get a separate set of wheels/tires.

My parents are visiting after Christmas, so if she gets in my father will be driving the car back to South Carolina to put in storage while we're out of the country and drive one weekend a month for me, change oil, etc.

I refuse to become one of those people with a sob story about selling their 'vette and never getting one again.

I just took my eyes of the road and stared at the instrument panel a few times.

I'm just a poor country boy, so, I got in my wife's stock Trans Am on concrete and slowly stalled her car up to 1800 rpm before it borke the tires loose. Thern, I got in mine and stalled the Yank SS3600 up to just under 4000 before the tires broke loose. FWIW ...
