How about a 5.7 LS1? Or a 6.0? Lots of aftermarket parts and oodles of tuning support for the LSx family.

I was quoted $5k for an LS6 by my local GM performance parts at a dealership.

$5k for an LT1 is not a good deal. You can get a MUCH better engine... atleast go LS1. If not LS6 or LS2.

I wouldn't recommend an LT1. You can pretty much get a better engine for about the same or the same price.

If you do decide to go LT1 then I would not pay more $3k (Including labor)... for $5k that **** better come supercharged.

Follow their advice. I had a 96 Firebird (you can find pics on this forum) and I bailed on it after I drove a LS1 powered car. I now have a 2000 Camaro. Sell yours on ebay and use the money to have a LS1 installed.

Being that it already has an LT based engine in it, the LT1 makes much more sense. Putting an LS1 in that car would cost way more than 5K

isn't the L99 called the baby lt1? If so, it should be a very direct swap. I bet the accessories and harness wouldn't change much, if at all honestly.

Just reflash the PCM and be done with it.

If you are just pricing a motor swap, 1100-1500 isn't that far out of the ballpark for a motor swap. Labor isn't cheap at a shop.

I'd go with an lt1...

a place to check out, if you don't find anything here, www.camaroz28.com or whereever...

Is www.tacreationsusa.com they deal with used f-body parts, and are located in Hialeah Miami. Wouldn't say "cheap" but not unreasonable, and not too far.
