Default Lasombra52 initial startup with cam

OK got the cam done after a rocky start. Lots of guys helped out on this one. KwiksilverZ28 with some wrenching and tuning, tree50maro(Joe) held the camera, Larry(reddevil I think) with some wrenching, 3rdgenwillie hung out and got some a/c, corvettekid82(Mike) helped a bit the last day. Thanks to everyone. And a sleepingZ28(Ben) got my SFCs welded. Here is the video.

Maybe Jason will bring it up to Timmy Macs tomorrow for everyone to see, or hear. It is a sight to behold, and a sound too.

Crap, can't make it to Timmy Mac's. Perhaps I shall hear this in person for the Sarasota meet.

Man that thing is loud. It'll be hard to keep quiet around the police. I had fun doing that install.

Lessons learned. First of all, every mod you do to a car will cost more than you expect. Have some reserves.. If its a daily driver, have something lined up to drive in case you dont get it done. And absolutely show your appreciation to those that volunteer their time and space.

I can't STRESS the appreciation part enough with what john said. I think i've said thank you and shook people's hands more than i have in the last year over a three day period. I'm EXTREMELY greatful and appreciative for Mike, John's, and Larry's help with everything.

I know diddly squat about how to do major mods on cars, so without them pushing me to get it done, even though I had great fears about it, and knowing full darn well that I could not do it on my own, I still did it since they were pushing me.

With there expertise and knowledge the install happened.

THANKS to everyone that helped.

I know you thanked me in private, but I think what a lot of people were wondering about was that nobody heard anything after Tuesday, and no threads were started with that appreciation. I couldnt care less, I did it as a freind, but I know Mike did it to get some publicity so eventually people can see that we do good work and we can start charging for our work. He is also trying to get into tuning too, so we might all have a local guy that can set us up. So he absolutely should get a huge public thank you.

Unfortunately there seemed to be some miscomunication before we started. We never saw this as a major mod. It was relatively cheap and should only take a few hours to do, but things do happen, just remember my rag in the intake incident, costing me over $1500 for a stupid mistake on a $400 header install. So things happen, and we dont like it, but sometimes costly things are found after the fact, not even caused by a mistake, but by normal wear, or abnormal in some cases. Luckily I had a spare oil pump and the timing chain only cost $20, but it could have been a lot worse. That is something to remember whenever you do any mods, no matter how major or minor the mod is.

Oh in response to snowman on what else is replaced, when doing a cam, you need new stronger valve springs, a timing chain and oil pump at the absolute minimum, and of course all the gaskets and seals. We made the mistake, after doing several and not needing one, of not getting a timing chain on this one. It was a Sunday, so we couldnt get one and the car had to sit til we could get one. And if you have a wife you know how they get when someone elses car is tieing up "her" garage. The rest of the time the garage is mine, but when its tied up for car stuff and they cant get their car in, it is "her" garage all of the sudden.
