Default Fast 92mm Install

Figured i would post up here cause its kinda FI related...

Well decided i would throw the intake on today...or at least try to. So went to Ace Hardware and got a Plug and a 1/4npt tap to start...then home to a PB&J Sandwich. Then out to the garage....

First tap the hole and clean it out....

Some RTV and a Oring and a nylon cap....

TADAAAA no more stock MAP sensor hole!

Then started to put intake into car had to climb into engine bay to get a back bolt....then...fell out of the engine bay onto my truck...right arm tried to stay in truck bed while body fell to floor. Foot go cut somehow arm twisted in a way it was not supposed to...i fell...oops. Layed on floor for a second or two...then inside to couch....then finished most of the install and took some pics!

Now...shower and work!!!!!!!! Finish install and drive tomorrow if the weather holds. Then a little tuning and hopefully putting the car on the rollers to see what she can do with her new intake!

Seems like easy way to get rid of the bad map design. Why couldn't they just cast in a factory type holddown! I made a holddown from strapping and tripled it over and bolted it to top bolt on my trans and then it goes up and bends down onto map to help hold it under boost. I am planning on going 3 bar next spring and well move the map off the intake and plug. They should just supply plugs for it. So whats with the rubber ring? Woudn't simple sealant work with just a basic pipe plug. Guess plastic plug is fine too.

I was worried about it blowing out the map under boost.
I think they should maybe offer the fast intakes with one piece construction now hot have it so you can swap 78s to 90..is the 92 still multi piece??

Still not going over 20psi ever and seen lots of fast 90/90 builds going to that level.

The 92 don't seem like worth it for the upgrade. Can you run a normal 90 tb on it?.

I will deffently post results as soon as this thing hits the rollers. On the street i am sure its just gonna be a difference between wheel spin and wheel spin. Close to/over 1000hp is not the best bet for street tires.

I made the plug cause i run a 3 bar map and the hole was worthless. Its just a simple 1/4" npt thread. I used the black oring cause i figured it would help sealing...after cranking down the screw i realized it was worthless but it was on there so o well.

Can you put a 90 tb on the 92 or do you have to get a new tb as well although I guess it would defeat the purpose to run a narrower 90 tb on it. I can see a huge jump from the 78 to 90 or 92 but for 2mm it just seems like it won't be worth that much.Guess need to see some back to back dynos. But then again kind of like you said..if you have 1000 hp you don't have traction anyway so whats another 20 or 30 hp here or there.

I think will for sure just do the tap and plug thing on my car. Seems easiest then just run the 3 bar map off vac liine. That is an awkward place for that thing, but will be taking off the intake to do a direct port setup.

they do not even make a 92mm throttlebody for the corvettes. I am using my 90mm TB right now...honestly i kinda agree...2mm does not seems like a lot but any little bit counts. Its not even really a 1mm gap up on the top and bottom...and maybe a little over 1 on the sides. Does not seem like its perfectly round. Hopefully with some better porting in the intake i will help.
