Default carb style intake question

is anyone running a carb style intake and elbow on a mild FI setup.i see that alot of the 1khp+ cars are running these. im curious how much torque is lost, and how drivability might change. It just looks like boost pressure will be delivered more evenly with this setup, and i have to buy an intake and fuel rails either way.
My car is a stock cube ls1 with a custom grind turbo cam (226/234 115 lsa i think), single tc76, 4l80e, yank sc3000, 3.20 gears.( some of that is in the making) i plan on running around 12-14 pounds eventually. thanks for any input

That's a good question. I don't think you would notice a difference in driveability although you would notice a reduction in low end torque. It's hard to say, maybe a slight reduction in low end torque would allow the turbo to spool higher. Bob

Its mainly a fuel cylinder trim problem, #7 is the leanest on big power applications. The single plane helps with that.

1500-2500 you will pick up a little, 3000-6000 you will have a loss off boost, and from 6-7500 it will carry further.

yeah thats what i was thinking, that a single plane would keep the back two from leaning out, considering that you get the fuel rails with the edelbrock the price diffrence really isnt all that much depending on what elbow you get. i just dont want to have a street car im only turning 6400 that starts making power at 4700...to me it seems like once the turbo starts spooling it has to make power? any thoughts?

Stick with the stock style intake then, it will be more fun on the street, and really, you are not running into lean problems at your power level, GIVEN the tune is good.

I have the vic jr and elbow. But i have a 4xx ci motor and a big turbo. I have over 500 tq at 3,8k and carries up to 689 at 6,5k limiter is 7,2k. I have little boost drop on the street around 2psi but thats at 7k hell its a butt mount. I have no Ideal what a vic jr will do on a stock cube motor but I think the port velocity will suffer down low causing weak tq but mid to top it will be a beast.
