This sounds EXACTLY like when I shoved an 88 in my old PTK setup with a small resrictive DP, super high temps, a ton of backpressure, very poor spool time and alot less power than it should have been making! I am goona agree with most of the other people and say that a bigger DP is in order. I hope you get it figured out soon man.

Wanna know why Im in such a hurry people? Im a soldier like many on this board, I get 11 months at home, I dont want to spend all my time at home tinkering on something that will not get me to a goal Ive set for myself then decide once again to upgrade, and hey its time for iraq again. I want something I can put together and KNOW it will kick ***, if it runs 8s with an M6 it does, if it dont it dont, but at least Ill know next time I put by best into into it, and back myself off to a powerglide. and go...... yeah 8s anyway.

it would take longer to start over... more than likely you will have problems if you make a new setup as well. you are wasting time now... get out in the garage and fix what people have said, nothing sounds like it will take a long time. plus quick times in an m6 takes skill, go practice

Thats $70,000 in the entire car including $16,400 purchase price of the stock car back in 2004, not just the motor/turbo etc. The motor cost me..
$5,500 in Shortblock components
$1900 in heads, valves, springs, retainers machine work etc
$400 for a cam
$700 for the intake manifold plus EFI conversion
$800 for throttle body and elbow
$450 for pushrods, lifters and LS3 intake rockers
$400 for gaskets, including cometic head gaskets

thats $10,160 for the motor Im sure Im leaving out a whole lot of expense there
The weldon pump, sumped 98 steel tank, two filters, 95lb/hr injectors, impedance converter, fuel lines, fittings, rails, pressure regulator etc
$4000

$6600 for the piece of crap PTK kit
$1,000 for Tial 60 wastegate, and 50 BOV, (what I requested from PTK in the first place)
plus other bits and pieces of stainless and such to modify the kit to fit the PT88 and my single plane intake setup

$1900 for the turbo..

$23,660 aproximately for the motor, turbo kit, and supporting fuel system.

the rest of the car has $5,000 in suspension
a $3,000 six speed, $2,000 in drag rims and tires for the track
an $800 custom driveshaft, a $2,500 ford 9"
...$13,300 + 23,660 = $36,960 + car..=$16,400 thats $53,360 and I KNOW Im forgetting ALOT! so yeah thats how I spent about $70k on my car

Thanks for serving to start with!
But man, you really need to sit down and decide what you want!
I didn't see anybody else post it, so I will ask,
Did you check to see if your belt was tight enough? It may be slipping and causing you to lose some boost also? Just a thought.

Well I have come up with this FINAL conclusion, Ill build myself a 4" downpipe, and run the biggest cold side setup and A2W I can cram in the car on the PT 88 get it running good Then build a new hot side for the S91 the probably only cost me 3k more to buy an S91 and do the hot parts for it then I can see how they both work and it really wont cost that much. I can switch between either setup, sell the one that dont run as good at the track, and build an LSX block for the final representation of the car.

Thats a plan man!! You know we all do our best to look out for someone, and if the majority of the forum is telling you to get the current setup right, they are probably on to something

Your current setup should work fine with some fine tuning. Here is a graph from a 408ci/T88 car we did a few years ago.It has a 218 Cam,AFR 225 heads,carb/90mm intake and cheap AtoA intercooler running 93 octain.Runs a 3.5" downpipe to a cutout under the car.Car is still alive today. To go fast we found a 3.50 gear set was needed.
The graph is 8lbs,10lbs and 14lbs.All street tuned so timing is conservative.

by the way, how long does the downpipe have to be? can I just dump it in front of the cross member with 12" or so?
