Wastegate placement/efficiency plays a factor in this equation as well.

One of the main reasons that CO2 boost control is so effective is that there is a constant regulated pressure source regardless of how much pressure is in the intake. This is why the AMS controllers are so good because you can command the actual pressure on the gate which it tries to achieve by way of the MAP sensor and it's 2 noids vs duty cycle of a single noid.

I put a blue and yellow = 17psi spring combo in my tial 38's on an APS kit and have the LG upgraded turbos. I'm aiming for around 17 psi of boost and I have and E-boost controller, am I way over doing it with that much spring pressure? Thanks

actually, its still a single noid. the other noid is for pressure decrease.

CO2 is awesome...I'm doing 36psi on a 8.5psi spring

my old boss has 4 pound springs and runs 35psi with co2 on the top of the wastegate ,,running a boost controller he can control how much co2 or air runs to the top of the gate .. he said you can also use the port from the turbo's as a source, its just not as quick as the co2.. hes gone 6.99 @204 so far on 4psi gates @3000lbs with 10.5 tires

Well, I put in 10psi springs now as base. Its pretty nuts at 10psi with the 427.
I figure can still ramp up especially if running race gas from 10psi from gear or by rpm.
Was tempted to just leave it at 7.5 base and ramp up from there but wasn't sure if could get to 20 or so psi that might want max power.
I find the 10psi pretty good street psi on pump.
I would say 17psi is way too high on pump depending on your compression,if you have alc injection,timing..etc and don't leave much room for ramping.
But of course its all personal taste and stuff and you have smaller engine.
I also have quite a lot of gear with 3.54 back there. I kind of wish could go to a 3.23 or 3.08 maybe even a 2.73 would get even quieter on highway but don't really go on the highway all that much. 3.54 is lowest gear available on the Dana 60 which is a big strong rear end.

Thanks for the info.
I'm adding alc injection before I tune and my compression is at 8.5 I have 3.50 gears and I just thought since I'm aiming for 17 psi of boost I should have stronger springs in the wastegates. Will the E-boost pull the gates open with that spring tension. I'm still trying to figure out how this all works, any enlightenment would be great! Thanks for the help.

I don't think he is going to chime in 4 1/2 years later.

You can run however much boost you want on whatever wastegate spring you want with a good boost controller. I run 20+ lbs on a 5 PSI spring for a long time on a 30 dollar boost controller. Chinese wastegate.
