Wow, that is a big split for a turbo car. Good power too. On stock heads you are only about 100hp down from veee8 and he is running 14psi with WCCH ported heads...
Damn these heads seem to just work when turbocharged regardless of reverse or traditonal split.
Wierd.

New cam is 241/249 on a 115 so we'll see how it does with the forged motor.

its also a M6 car with a stock rear right now so that helped a little. Veee8 is going through a th400....so im sure he'd be putting down a ton more if it were a m6 and stock rear like mine..lol.

You have to remember I am through a stalled TH400, if it was M6, it would be well into the 900's+. That 830 was a baseline, going back to the dyno this week to try a couple other things.
The real reason I had these heads ported was that I was a bit disappointed with how they came out of the box. I got 2 sets, a year apart,and they were all the same. All full of slag and imperfections, and all the machined surfaces were way rough, including the decks. The WCCH treatment made them a lot nicer. I don't see how they could have sealed with how rough the decks were, but maybe???

yeah...wanted to keep it as low key as possible with both looks and sound. there's a slight hint of a lope. no one even thinks its forced induction, just sounds like a small cammed ls1....

Not trying to say yours is low on power, I am just saying I am impressed with how these L92 heads respond to boost, they make great power no matter the boost or (it seems) no matter the cam design. I plan to copy what you have done, except on stock L92 heads (maybe cleaned up by hand) one day in the future.

I bet both of those cars are useless in first gear on the street.

I hear ya, when the L92's first came out, there was 2 different castings, 2 different ways they were cast. One was smoother then the other. Both the sets I received (a year apart) were the rough versions. I believe, they are the rougher cast version now. LS3 included.

What? No, of course not. The last sale I saw had stock unassembled L92 heads for $220, assembled for $475. CNCd are way more expensive.
But the as cast ports should at least be even and not full of casting flash. If GM concentrates on making a top quality mold, the as cast ports will be fairly smooth and consistant.

They were closer to 72cc stock, with the optional bowl work was 75cc. Some NA guys may not opt for the bowl work, but most are decked anyways.
I have used several different online calculators for CR. Static comes out to 9.5-9.8 depending on which one you use.

I know my reply was a bit of a sarcastic one... But seriously we're cramming air in these things and hoping to get it back out, so the smooth runners make little to no difference unless you are trying to make every last hp you can with your combo. If you are doing that, I wouldnt suggest using L92 heads anyway.

Bang for the buck, they are great heads though! Maybe when we start really shoving air in them we'll have issues with the "thin deck" but so far I can't say that its been a problem, and we've had over 20psi on them so far.

This is why i didnt bother getting mine CNC'd...i figured with Forced induction they're either gonna work or not and so far its worked ok for me. at the time of my build i couldnt beat the bang for the buck.

i've read some conflicting info so need clarification. do the assembled heads have additional work done to them versus the bare heads, e.g. decked, flashing cleaned better?

Nope, same heads are used on the assembled and bare versions.
Unless you opt for the GMPP CNC versions (or aftermarket) they will all be the same.
I'm with Frank in the fack that at 20psi it won't make a sh*t of difference how smooth the ports are.
There is some value in a quick clean up to the deck surface to ensure a good seal.

how much were your l92 heads milled after porting? ending up with 75cc on milled l92 heads is quite abit of material taken out of the chamber.
i guess the l92/ls3 deck thickness "flaw" is just a myth.
many are chiming in with 700+rwhp on stock l92 heads
cool.

I told Rich to just take enough to make them flat and smooth, it wasn't very much at all. Maybe .001-.002?

Does the "thin deck" of th L92 head really make a big difference as far as reliability in a stock configuration? What is the most material that can be removed from these heads (from deck) before the integrity of the head is sacrificed? How can you distinguish the difference between the two versions of the heads as far as the smooth and rough castings are concerned?
