Default Motor is out: How much $ to convert to low compression for turbo setup?

Just curious.... I have flat top pistons and approx 11.5:1 compression. How much extra would it cost to convert to another 408 piston that would be better for boost? Looking at going to approx 9.5:1 or 9.6:1 compression? I have very well ported L92 heads and an eagle 4.0 crank

Thanks in advance.

I think you need to wait and see what the rest of the stuff is going to cost before you worry about pistons. You might need a new crank and main caps with all the walking that bitch was doing.

People have been using the stock crank up to 1,000 hp. And for his goals the stock main caps should be fine as long as he has aftermarket bolts/studs. How many miles do you have on your current setup? I remember you putting it together not too long ago. You might only be out the pistons/rings, hone, new cam, and some gaskets.

Keep in mind that to rebalance a previously balanced crank, takes a bit of skill. You just can not go slapping in malley where ever. In the long run it will be better to sell you current 408 shortblock and buy a new low compression shortblock.

Might look into selling your existing shortblock to fund the cost of a new more FI friendly one if thats the direction you're wanting to go? Might save on machine shop costs this way...
