hmm good one......... that was on an ls1 that i blew up hence why i went with the lower comp. and bigger ci of the lq4. i was planning on going forged internals next winter but i dont want to screw this motor up in the mean time seriously it shouldnt be too hard of a question ..........

i was also being serious at the same time.... im sure you could get more than that but it sounds like you want to keep it somewhat safe as well. realistically i think the 500 will come before the 10 psi (depending on the drivetrain)

thx man your right about trying to stay safe after i blew the last one the car was down for 2 years before i grew the kahonies to put a new motor in myself i just couldnt justify the 5k price tag the mechanic quoted me and that was for a ls1 motor with unknown mileage

Buddy of mine has a turbo on his Silverado SS. Stock he had it as 12psi until one of his pistons gave up (#8 go figure). They think it was due to a bad tune. He now has it rebuilt to stock specs with slightly lower compression 9.5:1 and it running 10 psi I believe.

Definition of How much Boost vs How much Horsepower vs How safe....sure you can run boost till you peg your guage (at least once) What kind of horsepower are you looking for? if you can make you goal at a lower PSI then it will be safe,(providing you have a spot on tune) say app 500 RWHP @ about 7-9PSI. but if you need to make the same amount of HP @ 12+ PSI then the Grim Reaper is just a loud pedal away. Beware of people running an X amount of boost. Their geographical location makes a difference, altitude, air density, octane ect. Just be realistic and know all the "OTHER" parts that will need attention as the HP & TQ go up, Clutch and or Convertor, Drive Train, Fuel System ect. It dominoes very quickly.....
