Default Boost spiking between gears.

I'm having trouble with my boost spiking between gears an extra 2#s on my 2000 auto single turbo.I thought it was my electronic controller so I changed over to mechanical bleed valve.Same thingAnyone have any ideas?
Thanks

A BOV is not a must.

What are the boost patterns ? Is the wastegate adequately sized, and is the boost control systemn plumbed up sensibly ?

ie, relatively short hoses where possible.

The car is an auto.I have one line going to the side of a tial gate from the turbo compressor.I have a Blitz controller that did the same thing so i switched to a bleeder valve which is plumbed up top near the turbo. The line from the turbo goes down to the side port of the gate which is under the car on the crossover pipe. The line is about 4' long. The top port is open.I'm thinking I may need to replumb the whole setup and use the top port also. I think the gate is big enough as it will hold 5#s with no problems. It only spikes when I get it up to 9#s.
Thanks
