Question .82 or 1.06 A/R ... that is the question

ok, last time I post about this, I promise.

Ive asked a number of people on here their opinions via PM and Ive gotten mixed results on what A/R I should go with.
  • I'm building a FUN street car that will see occasional track use.
  • I plan on using TWIN GT35R turbos
  • My goal is 800HP at the flywheel, give or take 50 HP.
  • It is a 6-speed car

I'm using my stock LS2 (with appropriate changes) to get things rolling (keeping low boost), but I have plans for a fully built low compression Iron 6.0L next winter w/ L92 heads. Not sure if Im going to stroke it or not at this point, but this would be the motor the turbos will be tuned to.

APS apparently uses 1.06 A/R housing on their TT Z06 kit w/ GT35R's, and so does another user who has a nasty vette setup for the track.

Ive also spoken to a user who is using .82 housings and even one using .63 housings (although I think that is too small), but it seems like everyone is pleased with their setups.

I've searched for weeks and weeks on anything telling me how to mathematically calculate the correct size housing, but all I find is "smaller ratios spool up faster buy build more back pressure in higher RPMs, larger ratios my experience lag but produce more power at higher RPMs."

This brought me to searching for other owners with similar setups and asking their opinions and although all were helpful, I got so many different answers it still left me uncertain of what to go with.

Maybe my "FUN" car plans and HP goals are conflicting? It seems like the LSX seems to be a damn fun engine no matter how they are configured, so I dont think thats it.

I just dont want to make a mistake this early on and have to shell out more cash later to fix something that could have been avoided by asking questions, so here I am

Any help would be greatly appreciated and I cant wait to start my project thread in the conversions section (should be starting in May).

Thank you.

"My goal is 800HP at the flywheel, give or take 50 HP"

82's with stock cubes would be perfect.

Up the cubes to 428 and up the power to +1000 and 1.06 would be perfect.

well damn! thats the kind of direct answer Ive been lookin for! Where ya been hiding the past couple weeks? lol

I have no need for 1000+, although it would be cool, I dont think the suspension could handle it, not to mention the trans, tires, my wallet, ect., lol

Stock-ish cubes are fine with me, at most I'd go for would be 402, but again I really dont have the need it.

Thanks for the reply, it kinda goes along with what one of my other friends said, so thats 2 votes for .82.
