317's on LS1 For Boost!?!?!??

I am considering getting a set of 317 heads because you can pick them up cheap and they will lower my compression a bit on the stock bottom end. I am trying to run about 8psi or 500rwhp which ever comes first, I have the turbo setup already just need to know what insurance will help. I have some PRC Golds, wondering if they will fit on the 317 heads (the were bought with my stock heads in mind) also looking to do a blower cam, and wondering if I will need to change PR length, Trying to do the .051 MLS ls6 head gasket or maybe the Cometic .060. Ideas and other help welcome.

Check out my sig. It shows my heads and cam. I also suggest head studs but you probably already know this. I went also went with the LS6 MLS gaskets. My STS kit is supposed to be shipped out this week. Have fun.

Thanks for the info, anyone know about the springs?

they'll fit on the 317 heads, just make sure to get new valve oil control seals FROM PATRIOT!! don't use OEM valve oil control seals on the golds because it will preload the springs and you'll be snapping them in a few hundred miles!! i'm running 317 heads with GM MLS head gaskets and ARP head studs on 14 pounds of 'le-goodstuff' with a stock ls1 bottom end.... street car

they are the same head gasket, when you get them you'll see on the edge they are stamped 5.7/6.0L

Hmm never heard of this. I went with a PRC spring kit as well and used the supplied Viton valve seals that came with the spring kit (bought kit new for this build however). I am also running the GM MLS head gaskets and ARP studs with good luck so far at 13psi.

what other gaskets will I need for the swap? assuming I do a cam and timing chain at the same time .. and I assume stock length push rods will be fine even if I do a cam?

317 is the casting number on the 6 liter aluminum factory GM truck heads. Just search the for sale section and try and find a set thats in good shape. The valves can be reused, but you'll for sure want to upgrade the springs.

I got a set of stock 317's with stock valves if you want them. I'll let them go for $150?
