Default When commonly referring to your boost amount...

When people commonly refer to how much boost their running, is that reading typically taken from the Intake or the blower? The reason I ask.. My Vortech headunit has a Boost Gauge tap right at the discharge and readings from there will show 8+ PSI easy. However, if I plumb my Boost gauge off say the Brake Booster Line, I'll be lucky if I see 6 psi. I understand the "WHY".. Just wondering when people here say their pushing 10lbs is that on the Intake side after all the intercooler / aftercooler plumbing or before where the reading tends to be a little higher? I get asked a lot of how much boost I'm running.. Should I say 8+? I believe vortech advertises the discharge boost or what the blower is physically making and not what the net result is AFTER the rest of the plumbing behind the headunit.

Boost pressure is commonly referred to at the manifold.

i think the majority of the people here have their guages tapped somewhere around the intake manifold, so i guess you can assume it's "manifold boost" they refer to.

My gauge takes boost just after the turbo, I probably lose about 2-3 psi pre-intake. When my guage says 12, actual boost is probabll around 9-10 psi, on my new kit I will reference it at the intake for more accuracy.

Cool thanks!.. That's what I thought but just wanted to be certain.

I assume the Brake booster hose is a good enough location as anything else? Does the Booster itself contribute to yet another piece of plumbing that might take away from an accurate reading? Perhaps I should tap DIRECTLY Off the Intake?
