Stall speeds for big power guys
Scott, we use 10 inch converter that hits 5600 rpm on floor against brake. On a good pass i shift at 8-8100 and it never drops below 6500. The motor makes 900ftlbs at 5700 rpm. At tracks we have been to lately, we are using 2 step to limit starting line boost around 4000 rpm (about 8psi) to stop the spinning.

I have no runs on my combo but my TCS converter is a supposed to be a 5000 stall. It's a stock sized converter. Feels loose but not sick loose.
Z8's has a JW 4500 but they see over 5500 on the 'brake.

I see all these big stalls. PI is telling me to go smaller than my Vig3600. Is that because I'm still running my 4L60E?

That's cool...I thought PI was giving me wrong info...lol. They wanted me to run a Vig3200 multi-disc cause i lock the converter at the top of third. But I'm wondering if i even need to bother doing that. Now that i think about it JS told me to do that to show a good MPH. And he's got alot of good info. He's help me out in picking the right parts for my new setup. Thanks for the reply and hope to see ya that the track someday. Take care.
