can 5.3L heads be used?
i recently purchased a p1 procharger. i don't have the blower pulley and i don't plan on running a lot of boost. however, i have TSP 5.3L 2.5 heads on the car now with a TR224-112 cam. i know this is no where near an ideal setup for a supercharged car. i do not have the heads milled. it is just their standard heads and i am running the gm mls headgaskets. i also have full bolt ons with 1 7/8 headers. i was curious if i could run this setup together or if it would be manditory to change heads? i will be on pump gas with no meth (it is a street car).

You can run boost on any compression. Just how much is the question. Since you don't want to run meth that limits you. Do you have 93 octane or 91 where you are at? What is your compression ratio? I think you would be better off to sell the heads you have and buy some stock 317's and put good valve springs on them. Just my opinion though.

the compression is 10.7:1 and 62cc's. i was planning on putting on a 6 or 8 pound pulley. i just didn't know if it would be ok on pump gas or not. i do have 93 octane where i lived but i figured that wouldn't make much difference over 91 if that is all we had. with me having a poor cam for boost along with headers i didn't know if i would be able to pull it off or not.

I wouldn't do it, but thats just my opinion. I also vote for selling the 5.3's & slapping a stock set of 317's on there with good springs. It'll drop your comp. since the 317's are I believe a 72cc head which will make you alot more pump gas friendly, especially since you have no intentions of running a meth kit.
Otherwise your basically inviting detonation.
