My friend bought a 2000 TA M6 with a Vortech on it. It gets 6psi and the dealership says it dynoed just over 500 rwhp. It has the stock motor and manifolds also. I found it hard to believe because the only mods are SFC's and a catback.
The question is what is a safe boost level? The kid drives like a maniac (like me lol) and I think that is too much boost to be safe. He also has the stock clutch, rear and torque arm also.
He doesnt have the money to build the motor so I think a different pulley would be the solution. I advised him not to buy it since we dont know who tuned it and the whole history of the car. So I am sure when it breaks me and my brother will be fixing it.

6psi should be fine on a stock shortblock, but i`d deffinatly take it to a dyno to have the tune checked and i highly doubt that it`s making 500hp maybe at the flywheel but not at the wheels not on 6psi.

The dealer is full of crap.
The Vortech kit with 6PSI on an otherwise stock car is nowhere near 500HP, not even at the flywheel. 6PSI on an otherwise stock LS1 is good for about 100 extra flywheel horsepower 85 rearwheel. So, your probably looking at about 380-400RWHP.
Your friend should be fine, as long as the engine tune is good. The Vortech kit comes with injectors. But he might want to spend 200 bucks and get it professionally custom tuned, there's no telling what tune is in that car now. It will be safer with a custom tune, and they may be able to squeeze a few more horses out of it.

Vortech's 6# kit is good for about rear wheel horsepower and their 9# is good for about 140-150. Both kits come with 38# injectors and programming. The car should dyno just under 400hp if that's the only mod (about 450 flywheel). Remember, a dealership gave your friend those numbers so....

Thanks for the help guys.I have no clue about forced induction. The first thing we are going to do is get it on the dyno to see the A/F.I am not really concerned about the numbers I just want to see how the A/F looks. I am gonna help him out with the rest of the mods.
I knew the numbers were not right with the mods. For his sake I am trying to keep the car together. Every time he brakes something I will be under the car with my bro.
